Good point. They games were much worse too. The PS1 was named a "Yuppy toy" and I think cost about £500.00 when it came out... but who wants to compensate yuppies?
i'm thinking more about the games rather than the consoles. in general games have always been 40 to 50 quid ever since the megadrive days. i remember paying £65 for street fighter 2. the argument then was that cartridges cost alot to make. that is why i am really only talking about the games on discs.0 -
Sorry for going off the subject but with the vast No. of games being sold (and on disc) they should be cheaper. It does also get related to the consoles because the consoles now are sold at a loss to get you onto their product. The real profit, and it is enormous, comes from software. Sega new that!0

i paid £26 pounds for modern warfare 2 on release day
i remember paying £70 quid for mario for the N64
i would say prices are dropping
how much 'value' do you get from a dvd/bluray vs a game?0 -

For the initial outlay, games give a rather good return on the initial investment compared to other media like Blu Ray and DVD films. It does also get related to the consoles because the consoles now are sold at a loss to get you onto their product. And in other news, the Sun will rise in the morning..0 -

I totally agree. I paid $30 for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and I've put about 100 hours into it so far and I'm still going.
A few weeks ago, I paid $20 for the new Star Trek movie on Blu-ray. I've watched it once, and will maybe watch it a few more times in the next couple of years.0 -

I own a computer repair shop. I have fixed dozens of XBOX 360s with the Red Ring Of Death and only 2 PS3s with the equivalent problem. Still own a 360 exclusively however ;o)
NOTE: Newer XBOX 360s are more robust and a lot less prone to the RROD problems caused by poor design and overheating.0 -
I paid 32 quid (I know, not the cheapest) for COD 6 and ive put more than 3 days in it so far. I dont think I could say that about ANY movie:idea:0

Have you had to repair any of the models with the Jasper chipset?0
