Waiting to hear about completion Friday!!

Hi,

Just wondered if there is anyone out there waiting to hear if they going to complete / move on Friday? I am and I am getting really panicky and twitchy...want it all to go through but there is as always the last few niggly bits holding up the exchange!!!

Theres a problem with the road adoption (its a new build) and I am waiting for the lender to confirm they happy....its like waiting for paint to dry.

Just thought we could wait together! :o)

  • Yes!

We are waiting for completion on Friday...our sols said yesterday that there should be no reason why we can't complete by then, however we haven't exchanged yet which is really getting me twitchy!

Hopefully it will go through today, the sols said they will be requesting funds from the bank today so it does sound like all is going through. What really frustrates me though is the lack of communication...we are bugging the sols all the time but as you can imagin they are busy and whilst I do understand that, it doesn't really help!

I guess all will be ok once we get a bit more info!

    Good luck with yours Wagesbird!
  • We're cutting it even finer - waiting to complete on MONDAY and we haven't exchanged yet! I just know it won't go through in time. We're first time buyers and really wanted to be in over christmas.
Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP
(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)
  • I can't think or a worse time to complete a house purchase than at Christmas.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • Interesting thread; we're completing on Friday too. Away over Christmas so it's the last day for us to avoid stamp duty.

We exchanged last Thursday so hopefully no issues. Assuming we complete on Friday then it will be exactly 1 month since we completed the initial forms with the solicitors to completion, so we're probably quite lucky.

And we used an online firm (Beaumont Legal) who were excellent (assuming nothing goes wrong between now and Friday of course) which given what I sometimes read on here about online firms being super slow, was quite a relief!

Probably helps that Natwest pushed our mortgage offer through in a week and a half from application as well, and of course the house is chain free.

Good luck to everyone else anyway :)
  • Hello laughing cow!

I can sympathise with that, I am annoying the solicitors all the time!!!
They have also requested the money but I am getting very stressed about the whole thing as you hear so many horror stories. I am like you if they have requested the money it suggests they think its going to complete in time. I keep worrying the mortgage offer going to be withdrawn, I wake up with cold sweats thinking about it lol.

I wont be happy until I put the key in the door! lol.

Hello clearing_out_my_pockets....as first time buyers I can feel your pain. It is just awful and if you havent been through the process before it can be very bewildering! This is my 3rd time and it doesnt get any easier let me tell you.

Good luck to you both...and lets keep each other posted..it defintely helps I think :o)
  • Sorry dont mean to be rude,:eek::eek:

However i saw this joke this morning. Thought it was funny.... :o:o:o

"I sold my house this week. I got a pretty good price for it, but it made my landlord mad as hell" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Good luck in your new homes. Hope you all find Good health, Wealth and Lots of Happiness.

  • We completed Friday just gone after exchanging on the Tuesday. It's a fantastic feeling, especially as it's our first house purchase!! We really couldn't be happier and are very glad to be in before christmas. Moving was pretty stressful as we did it just the 2 of us...
    Good luck everybody!

Ooooh, this gives me a bit of confidence, good stuff Morg Monster!! Hope you love your new home.

Wagesbird - I too am getting cold sweats but I also am having conflicting feelings...one minute panicky, next minute nonchalant...I guess it's because nothing is quite concrete yet! Like you, I won't be truly happy until I put the key in the door.
  • We are completing on Friday as well. :jExchanged a couple weeks ago after a VERY drawn out process, lots of delays due to people up the chain. (Our offer was accepted in mid-July and chain was complete at the end of July.)

We used Beaumont Legal as well and they were good, although not as proactive as they could have been when it all started going wrong - took the estate agent to get involved and keep things moving.

Now just can't wait to get the keys! Moving right before Christmas isn't ideal but luckily we have no children and are spending Christmas at the in-laws, so we'll have all the January sales to help with decorating the house, etc!

I am involved in a move that completes Friday, but the removals can't deliver the stuff (in storage) until next week as they're fully booked. So that's a job for me to help with next week.
