In addition to the above, buy a couple of inexpensive digital room thermometers, Lidl/Aldi often have them on offer.
Use them to adjust/calibrate the thermostats on whatever heaters you purchase so you don't end up overheating the property. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
- is there a formula to work out what size of heaters they should install?

There rooms are not that big - is there a formula to work out what size of heaters they should install?
The size of electrical heaters is not critical.
All of these heaters are thermostatically controlled. So if a room needs, say, 1kW, a 2kW heater(after initial heating) would use no more electricity than a the 1kW heater as it would only run for half the time.
In an case most of the 3kW fan heaters have a 1kW/2kW/3kW setting.
Most modern electrical ring mains are 'fused' at 30 amp so will cope with 6kW with enough spare capacity for TV etc1 -
Thanks, will go with the cheaper option - as they have little funds available, and they could explore storage heaters later. A little confused with some of the previous threads - are the fan heaters better than the oil filled ones?
Our local Lidl does not have the controls but will try Argos.Dealing with C/C Debt & Diet - New Me 2012

MBNA £1800
Barcaly £2400
Tesco £900

Fan heaters provide 'instant' heat, but no residual heat.
Oil filled radiators are slower to give out heat as it takes time for the oil to heat, but they have residual heat while the oil cools when the power is switched off.
The important point is that for any given cost of electricity - say £1 - both give exactly the same amount of heat and that applies to ANY electrical heater - even the over-hyped heaters that can cost well over £1,000 each.
Nearly all of the heaters have a thermostat; for a few pounds extra you can buy plug-in adapters with timers and even remote controls. See:

Ensure that your remote control sockets are rated at 3,000watts(3kW)1 -
Hi guys, we've recently bought a static caravan, it's a newish one, 2008, so is double glazed etc, it does have GCH but gas costs a fortune on the park as opposed to electricity which is relatively cheap.
Our park only closes for a couple of weeks in February, and as we're retired we are planning on spending a lot of time there, including the winter months. With that in mind could you please suggest what type of heaters we would be best buying? At the moment it's looking like oil filled radiators but I would welcome any advice.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.0 -
Cheap oil filled radiators would be better in a caravan, no moisture from gas and no problems or concerns about CO.
That is of course if electricity is cheaper than gas.
Are you sure about that?Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -

Presumably the poster means bottled gas! not mains gas.1 -
Thanks for the replies guys.
Yes it is bottled gas but it's supplied directly into all the statics on the site BY the site, in other words there are no bottles outside each static, the gas for all the caravans is piped from the main gas storage area on the site, and yes it DEFINITELY is a LOT dearer than electric0
