Waitrose or Tesco?

Hi all,
I am sure this tipic already was discussed 10000 times, but I could not find the relevat discussion. My question is whether or not Waitrose products are really so much better than Tesco? We currently shop at Tesco, spend about £50-60 per week. My main issue with Tesco is the quality of meat, I am no expert in meat, but even I can feel that it is not satisfactory. Our neighbours told us that Waitrose is so much better in this meaning and we should start shopping in Waitrose, even if it is more expensive. So, it is really worth?

The meat at Waitrose is much better than the meat at Tesco, but I find Tesco to be the worst for meat full stop. Morrisons is much better as is Sainsburys. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Waitrose do sell a lot more ranges of more expensive items, whether it is better is purely down to you comparing it with Tesco.0

unfortunately we dont have Morrisons or big Sainsbury's near us.0

Waitrose by far is better, I get an ocado shop quite often, which i love! In weeks between i use sainsburys, as there quality is excellent and i rarely have issues with their home deliveries!
Ocado bag it in bags with frozen , cupboard etc written on it, i usually get a newspaper and a choc bar free !
I have had a few disasters with Tescos home deliveries that i just point blank take my custom elsewhere.
Good luck! xxxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
Waitrose have beautiful products, every thing is better than Tesco - but at a price. I have noticed though they are starting to throw in a few BOGOFs lately. They are my nearest supermarket (walking distance). I have been to Morrisons a couple of times - 15 miles away and the seem better than Tesco too.0

Waitrose is better all round for quality and worth the extra cost. Lovely shop, lovely food, just wish I could afford to shop there all the time! They do have some good offers though too.
Sainsburys and Morrisons would be second choice, Morrisons for quality for the price you pay and the offers, and Sainsburys although a bit more expensive, but has a larger choice of items.
Tesco and Asda would be bottom of my list of preferred shops. I find Asda is expensive and only bleats on about it's offers that week, everything else is higher priced! Tesco I'm just not keen on the quality of the items and again, apart from offers, I don't find it that cheap in comparison to Morrisons.
However, I do visit all shops where practical depending on offers and what I want to buy!0 -
I've switched to Waitrose, They are just all such nice polite helpful staff. The manager even wished me a happy Christmas today after asking if they stocked something. Could you imagine that in Tesco!0

I shop at Tesco, only because Waitrose is too far away, but I would never buy meat from there. All my meat comes from our local butcher (much better quality and certainly doessn't cost anymore) and all my veg comes from a local farm shop.0

The quality of meat in Waitrose is really good. I have never had tough meat from them, but be warned it is expensive i.e £8 odd for 4 lamb cutlets. I have a big butchery in mine and they often have good reductions. The staff are very obliging.0

Waitrose is our "corner shop" and their meat is far superior to any of the other big competitors. But why not try a farm shop. Ours sells sausages that you can watch being made for about £2 for six thick ones. Fair prices on all other meats - certainly competitive with the supermarkets and its a local business. Just down the road there is a farm that sells free range eggs for £1.60 a dozen. Tesco is good for other stuff although I find Poundland, Lidl and Aldi are fast becoming my supermarkets of choice.0
