Next stop is getting the fire lit again (I'm trying to use the logs from the garage up, but they're hard work, and there's quite a lot of last night's left in there)

Please don't talk about nice warm fires.

... so need to make sure that the water is hot for another shower.

Please don't talk about hot water - lovely hot water to bathe in..... I shall tell you why in a moment - but first things first:
soappie help please. I used to make chocolate mousse with just eggs and chocolate, am I imagining that those were the only ingredients, and what should the proportions be, any idea? Lost the recipe!

I'm not a terrific pudding person (though the trifle went down a treat at lunch) but I've found this recipe in an old Cordon Bleu cookery book I have and yes, it's basically eggs and chocolate and goes like this:

      Ingredients
      • 6oz dark chocolate
      • small coffee cupful of water or black coffee
      • 0.5 oz butter
      • vanilla essence, rum or brandy to flavour
      • 3 eggs
      Method:
      • break the choc and cook to a thick cream with the coffee and flavouring
      • take off the heat and beat in the butter and the yolks of the eggs one by one
      • whisk the egg whites until stiff and stir briskly into the chocolate.
      • when thoroughly mixed, pour into small pots and leave overnight
      There, my culinary duty done.

Dinner was a success, enjoyed by all. But, at about 3pm, I realised the rads weren't hot and after some investigation, the boiler doesn't want to light and is flashing two lights which indicate "software error". No amount of tinkering will get the damned thing to fire and produce either heat to the rads or hot water.

I have the homecare contract thingy with British Gas so phoned them up. Earliest they can come out is Tuesday morning  and that's with me being put on high priority (I told him I was old and cold and if they found me in a hypothermic heap on the hall floor on Tuesday it would be his fault). He took it in good part and laughed through most of the call - which is what I intended him to do - my ploy worked - I was bumped up the list.

But, the house is now getting colder and colder and I'm sat here with my thick towelling dressing gown on over my thick trousers and jumper. I might just offer to cook NN dinner tomorrow night in return for a soak in her bath.

Ahhhh me.... so please, no more talk about nice woodburning stoves and hot water for showers ...
