Is it time for me to move onto Firefox and not IE

A lot of really good stuff - thanks all.
So wonder if you would say Thunderbird is better than Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail. I use the former and my wife the latter. She doesn't like the programme so need to work out my options.
If we change we may as well both have the same.0 -
Have to say I use thunderbird for a separate account, and don't really like it much....outlook express or full outlook for me......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Have you tried RESETTING IE? Have you run MALWAREBYTES to check for infections?:idea:0 -

I think we're going to seriously disagree on that one
The potential for damage that Firefox exposes you is far greater than that of Internet Explorer. One is extremely isolated which greatly mitigates a threat from the operating system as a whole and your personal files, and the other one isn't.0 -

Other sites, in the past, seem to have a few problems so am I better to ditch the IE and go with Firefox now. Any downsides to this move?
No downsides, plenty of upsides. Yes, as recommended, safer browsing also with the add-ons NoScript and Adblock Plus.0 -

I'm not going to suggest that you're wrong because you may well know something I don't, so link please.
I do find it hard to believe that I'm 'exposed' to much, I can't even view youtube videos without 1st unblocking the site, I've only had 1 virus since 1995 and I'm entirely to blame...as I knew the file was infected before I opened it. I've just installed 7 pro after running the beta since release, I did occasionaly run mban and it came up clean, so I'm not installing any of that stuff this time...and I don't restrict my browsing to 'safe' sites, quite the contrary, at times, I visit sites which are traditionally known for being on the darker side of the internet, yet my PC remains clean and my AV never triggers (though I don't feel confident enough to do without it.....feeling 99.99% 'safe is just not enough to expose my data to the .01%)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

Don't see anything wrong with Express at all; some might object simply because it's MS but some things MS do very well IME0 -

On at least 6 occasions im aware of, noscript has prevented my machine from being infected but IE let them through no problem
So the 'potential' might be there. But the realistic facts are quite different:idea:0 -

No way on earth would I suggest anyone use IE; comparatively lax in security, an easy target and an interface that is disorganized. Like I say, some things MS do very well (W7 ) but never IE. It's almost as if MS have given up hope on IE. Perhaps no bad thing0
