Obviously "pictures or it didn't happen" wouldn't be a relevant comment here...but I hope you get the idea, you should have something to back your argument, or just say "in my opinion..."
I've been in and out all day, this one slipped me by. I didn't suggest anybody was a fool or was acting in a foolish manner at all, that would be a foolish thing for me to suggest.
I'm unsure about how effective Noscript, are there reports of exactly what threats it has prevented? Not wanting to give a politicians answer, but I see a lot of noise being made over the program but never anything more than the "ifs and buts", rather anything of substance. I'll welcome any retributal to that impression though though.
With Noscript you may well be able to strengthen the forward facing surface of the browser, but by design Firefox leaves the back door wide open. Every extension as far as Firefox (and other Mozilla products that use extensions) is concerned is trusted implicitly, and as previously mentioned extensions can be installed without any interaction from the user at all. Hypothetically if this scenario was to occur, how could the user be confident in what any other extension is doing is doing? I assume Noscript works on the basis of white/black lists, which could be compromised to expose the user to threats.
Unlike Internet Explorer, Firefox runs at the default Medium Integrity Level under Windows Vista and 7 which gives a less restricted run to any malware which may manifest itself. IE7/8 is isolated to the point that it is only permitted write access to the Temporary Internet Files and a few subfolders within, but is not granted the same permissions as the user to write to their locations and the Windows Registry.
Working with Integrity Levels was something that Google were mindful of when developing Chrome, although I'm not sure how that's changed now they're introducing their own extensions system so I'll have to look into that a bit more. I still consider on a technical basis Firefox to be more susceptible to exploits than Internet Explorer.
I'm sure that's a statement that the Firefox evangelists will find a bitter pill to swallow, but Internet Explorer has moved on a lot since IE6 which seem to be where a lot of the foundings for statements lie..0 -
Firefox is miles better than IE, you can block ads easily for starters which puts it head and shoulders above IE to begin with.0

pretty sure even the firefox extension site starts off black, it really does make browsing a pain..until it's trainedUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
I used NoScript a few years ago but found it a bit annoying. Maybe it's better now but anyway there are better things about Firefox than NoScript.0

I can actually see what anewhope is saying.
NoScript work by blocking everything (hence my comment about breaking websites) and you have to manually whitelist things you want and they are easily removed.
This is worth a read: http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/noscript-use.html
I agree about the extensions/addons.0 -
Lets wait for Firefox 3.6 to release soon with more changes.0
