But, as i said before, they knew, or ought to have known, there would be issues, and really ought to have highlighted these possible problems for customers - especially with Christmas on the horizon.

That we definitely won't disagree on.

Personally I don't think it matters if it is Christmas or not, the issues should have been known and dealt with no matter what time of the year the product was introduced.

But with Christmas coming up - online purchases are somewhat more restricted by time limits, as is access to banks to pay bills, problems with the postal delays sending in cheques (since the card doesn't work), etc, etc. At least after Christmas purchases generally don't have the same time restraints and the postal service a bit quicker and banks have proper opening times.

All retailers would have received something very similar to this :

If the retailer dont act on that instruction the bank can only reliterate it too them again.

I'm sure the bank are aware of the issue and are working very hard to resolve it. The bank may not know who has and who has not acted on the instruction until its customers tell them which retailer is involved.

When other banks don't accept it (to pay credit card statements), you know something is wrong somewhere!

Then theres always the issue that some retailers/banks have loaded the details as a credit card rather than a debit card.

Im sure the card issuing bank can resolve that too.

Id possibly recommend explore another method of payment.

Funnily enough i only had one!

And the bank's online payment service requires a debit card (and obviously doesn't accept credit card style cards).

Looks like i'll have to go to another bank to get a maestro card...Clydesdale Bank's loss

I was referring to sending a bill payment from your yorkshire bank account to the company you need to pay.
