Why don't you try to open a cashminder next time your in branch?

Otherwise, you can open a Step from NatWest in branch or here.
Barclays also have a cash account that you could open in branch.

Both of the above would give you a debit card.

    Hi Folks,

Just to let you know, I opened a Clydesdale ReadyCash account last week, and received my card through the post today, and it was a 'Maestro' card, not a MasterCard.

So, not sure whether the bank has stopped issuing the new cards for the time being.

A friend has also recently opened an account with Yorkshire Bank, and is awaiting his card, I'll let you know what card he receives.

Readycash customers are still getting Maestro cards anyway.

Its only full current account holders that are getting debit mastercards AFAIK.

I see, well that could be considered both good and bad under the circumstances! :)

The Readycash is their basic bank account and as thus is meant to guarantee use at the Post Office to give you easier access to your money. I think because of the problems with the Mastercard they have gone back to the Maestro for these customers to ensure continunity of service but as I understand it all customers will eventually get a Debit Mastercard when all of the issues are ironed out.

To clarify, we have not halted the issue of Debit Mastercard on Readycash, the account continues to have Maestro and there are no plans to change that.

Jen_31, the lack of PM does have its drawbacks, perhaps if you send an email to the yorkshire bank press office mailbox - I could take a look and see if there's something I can do to help. Just put 'MSE - Jen_31' in the title and I'll know it's you.

    Hi

thanks i've replied, and i appreicate your help, but i think i'll just leave your bank. Really sitting there unable to speak and the lady just goes on and on about how her kids never shut up talking is a good way of been insulting. I'd wonder if someone went in with no legs if she' d have told then how she loves jogging.
    :)

As I said in my email Jen, I'm sad to hear this and would have liked the opportunity to help you get the account you wanted, but I understand your feelings.

A little tact and understanding goes a long way, unfortunately, on this occasion it looks like that was missing, so my apologies on the Bank's behalf.
