  • My MIL gave me a box full of vintage postcards today woo hoo, I'm hoping they'll be worth something!
Does anyone have any advice on selling them please? They date from the 1920's to 1980's, some are written on with stamps and postmarks etc and some are in books unused, many thanks for any suggestions as always folks!

This is a link to a site called Ascot. They are smallholding suppliers, but have a range of jars and pots for jam, chutney etc. Not the cheapest but nice, good quality hexagonal jars - I've used them before. I think they work out 30p-50p each depending on size but they come in packs of 30, 50 etc.

The rules for selling jams and chutneys are the same as for making cakes I think, i.e. you have to have your kitchen approved by local authority.

    Hope this helps.

you'll feel better tomorrorw - i felt like that earlier in the week - really jaded with it but the £10k wont appear itself. Can you not explain your ebaying as needing to have a really good clear out before you move out??

I'm on 56 listings and i've had a load finish tonight 39 i think, got some serious packing to do! Most of it is clear out stuff from round the house rather than profit but it helps get the house clear.

Where is everyone else storing their stock? I can't be the only one with a decorated floor. :rotfl:

    Hi Emma

I do believe you need to get some kind of License as Trading Standards are known to parade around Boot Sales etc and check these kinds of things. Not 100% sure, just remember reading that somewhere :o

well done on your sales, i have started packing as soon as there is a bid and write something on the back f the pack so i dont have to pack lots at once.
my stock/junk? is the same as yours everywhere apart from the bathroom! Can hardly move in the bedroom for boxes sitting about which is all the more reason for me to get listing as much as possible rather than buying more and getting an "office" kind of area set up. did ask the o/h if i could buy a summer house to turn into an office/store but he's not impressed with that idea, but we will see about that:D

Hi all - I'm almost certain this has been asked before but I've searched the thread and searched MSE in general, about an hour of reading various posts later, I still can't find my answer! So apologies, but what I want to know is:
If I buy some stuff wholesale and then list it on ebay, do I need to open a new ebay account and register as a business? Or can I sell from my personal account?
    Thank you

You can use the account you have now but need to change it from personal to business, although i believe once you have changed to business you can't revert back to personal on the same account.

The other option is, if you want to keep one account as personal for buying and selling personal good etc, then open another account as a business account and use that purely for business purposes.

Alot of people have two accounts for this very thing, although starting from scratch means starting from scratch feedback too.
