Morning everyone,I've had a great few days selling and winning on BB including £100.00 last night, but as I've attempted to withdraw cash,I have to leave it another 72 hours

Well today I'm listing (again).........! The pot is simmering at present,I've only spent £25.00 at the moment and I'm past the £500.00 mark (but that is due to selling old bits too ;)

Remember, there are no rules at all

I have mentioned that I want to cut the weekly shopping by at least £20.00 per week.I will do this, and that WILL be another £1040.00 in the pot by the end of this year !

    I still can't believe it's 2010,you are all doing fantastic,keep at it,keep focused,believe in YOU.

We are all in this together,so lets help each other.

AS a New Year Gift to all of you I'm going to GIVE you all some great information.

No doubt this will be sold on Ebay, but here goes.

Many times a year there are trade fairs around the UK and the world. There is one in Exeter from the 17th of this month. You can register online if you are a business for FREE tickets.

What you can also do is look through the exibitors lists, most of these have websites,so you can see what and how much you can purchase items for.

Here is the link for the list

These people do not run any type of affiliate programme,so I believe I'm okay to post this link,it is also available by searching for event organisers......as you can do yourselves and get more of these events and lists for FREE.

Here is the link for the Exeter gift fair, very interesting reading.

Remember, unless these products are made by these exibitors, they have had to source them either by agents,by contacting manufactures,by purchasing directly from China,Hong Kong wherever.

These lists will inspire you to your own ideas, use them wisely. If you see this info for sale on Ebay, report it,as it is copyright infringement of THIS site.Plus as MSE we do not want people getting charged for it when it is openly free information.

When you are all millionaires, please do not forget me,as I've not forgotten you lot !:T:T:T

Maybe its worth putting in the introduction, that no one is suggesting people gamble £100 they dont have or can not afford to spend.
I cant and am therefor going to start off with About a tenner.I am going to tryy and turn my crafting into a business and make embellishments. If all I make is a grand this year. Its a grand more than I had.
I am the worst drop out of things like this ever. But I have been a member of The thrifty gang since August and my habbits are changing.
Hope is what changes peoples destiny's.Without it you are not going to move.

    Hi All

Just a question with DHgate.com, just wondered if I can have some words of wisdom from those who have used the site before, I'm looking at buying some make up from there, one of the descriptions says 'these are made in China but quality is the same with the real thing'. I may be being thick but this means that the items aren't genuine ones from the brand??? Nothing on dhgate seems to say whether anything is genuine? or have i missed the point of the site.

    Apologies if im being thick!

    Thanks

    Hi Hannah,

Now I have used DHGate but not for branded items. I lived in China for a few months and saw that nothing is real ! The fakes are great copies and I would love a Louis Vitton bag from China and I got some fab phones from there for personal use- but for reselling purposes it could get you into sticky water. The Ipods and branded goods are replicated and sold cheaply. Most of the time you wont notice a difference but in some situations you might have to refund buyers, trading standards may get involed etc..

Of course this is a generalised answer - there may be some geniune Chinese Louis Vitton sellers, or Zippos, or Hello Kitty, or Estee Lauder...... but I personally wouldnt buy branded.

I made £20 in BB before the changes were made- I have won £36 since but cant get at it. However, whilst I do feel a bit peeved that T&Cs have changed, I recognise that the peeps at BB set the site up as a businessm and MSErs must be costing them a fortune so I am not gonna moan!

I would love to sell on ebay but I honestly cant come up with any ideas- everything seems to be my old tat! My entrpreneurial zing is non existent! I have previuosly tried to sell some die cut thigs on ebay (I was lucky enough to have a cricut for my birthday last year) but they didnt even get any watchers- I was quite demotivated by that. I make habd made cards but cant find any avenues for sales- have tried local shops but everyone is saying that they cant sell them. I have sold them in the past and have been told that they are lovely but that avenue has dried up now. I dont seem to be able to see any new avenues- any inspiration?
I dont lack drive, I just lack direction at the mo- and I do really want to strive for success in this challenge!:T

I have just listed my first 11 things on ebay with still loads to go at so fingers crossed I can make a little bit of profit from it! :j

I can't believe how long it takes me to list each item... I am sooo slow!

Anyway keep up with the positivity and ignore the negativity, we are all doing great!

I have got another challenge to start tomorrow too - Lose 3st in weight! I think that might prove more difficult that this 10k! Hehe!

Keep up the good work everyone!

  • Trouble is, that's just the point! You can get promotion within 3 months to what?? just another position in a dead-end job. Its all well and good saying it's opportunity but then so is picking strawberries for a living!

As for this thread, its so rosy-coloured and whimsical that you can simply turn £100 into £10,000 that people are falling into self deluding optimism. Using the same logic, why not call it £1 into a million! Its the penny stall to Marks and Spencer dream!

This is the flawed logic of the chessboard and rice, where you place 1 grain of rice on the first square, then 2 grains for the next, then 4 on the next square and keep doubling. By the last square, you've got enough grains of rice to circle the universe or something like that!

I know I will be accused of raining on the OP's parade but I think a reality check is in order for this thread. Very few if any people will turn £100 into £10,000 unless they have bags of luck thrown into the mix!

I feel it is unfair to give people, some of whom are in dire circumstances, the belief that money can be generated so easily in this manner.

Sorry I disagree and your post has just made me even more determined now.

I reckon its not that hard to do but watch this space.
  • Now I'm feeling even more motivated - I'm sure there's loads of other things I can save on....and I must get OH and kids sorting through their stuff for me to sell....;)

Can't believe I am so far towards my goal already! Thanks to all on this thread as even the more negative posts have really helped to motivate me to aim high and be grateful for whatever I save / make :j

I'm going to be one of the MANY who acheives my goal this year

I have noticed places like ebay dont want to pay for handmade cards, and they are flooded.
Either find a niche in your style or take a look at craft stalls and fayres. Also I have been told Etsy is a better place to sell handcrafted produce.Good luck.Hope you find a niche xx

Well done you for your hard determination.I would put a card in some newsagent windows,I think it costs about 50p a week ? Selling the fact that you can make any type of card people want, give them your phone number and tell them to keep a note of it until they need your services. It would be an idea on this to make miniature cards (business size) and hand them out to people you believe will buy off you.Again include contact details. You could try this idea and drop them through say 50 houses-you know like Avon do,then call back to ask if people are interested.Make some examples up and take them with you ......:T

people who do well take the opportunities that present themselves. Those that think positively are more likely to notice the opportunities as they are more open to them happening.
Richard Branson did lots of unrealistic things because he decided he wanted to and then found a way to make it happen. Not all of them worked but he kept going.
Edison tried thousands of different filaments before finding a system that worked.
mr sainsbury was illiterate and got turned down for a toilet cleaning job cos he couldn't fill in the form.
On his walk back home he spotted tomatoes on sale that were cheaper than where he lived. He could only buy a few but bought some an sold them and went back for more.
Being realistic his poor education should have left him down and out for the rest of his life.
Being realisitic offers no hope of anything more.
Aiming high and setting off on the journey to have fun and see how far you can get offers the possibility of more.
The thing is not to be realisitic but to know that you can live with it whichever way it works out and not to be too attached to it except for the experience and the challenge. Dream big but know you can be ok whatever happens. We don't need to pin everything on pulling this off but just open to the possibility that we might do.
Its not all about money either it might be earning less but loving what you do so most of your life is spent doing something that makes you happy.
I am a terrible singer and I used to bemoan the fact that I could never be a singer as I love it. Now I have 2 kids and we sing all the time and actually my singing is improving. But I actually am loving it- its free and we all have fun. So I am not earning a living from it but I am adding to my life with it.
The number of times I have been taking an interest in something and needing some information etc only to have it spookily materialise somewhere I would not have expected is amazing.
However it is not amazing because once something is on your mind you are more likely to notice stuff even if at that moment you are not actively looking for it.
Just like when you buy a new car you suddenly notice lots more of the same sort on the roads. They were always there but you weren't tuned in to notice them before.
This challenge and the thread that supports this are simply keeping our minds tuned into the possibilities and opportunities we might find.
If you think positively that something is achievable you are more likely to take the actions necessary to do so. It might ot happen but something even better may come out of it.
You may meet your future partner at a boot sale. You may make a lifelong friend on a forum. You may find a new hobby that brings you happiness for years to come. You may find your dream job or career through the contacts and friends you make - It might not earn you 10K more but add loads of value to your life.
You might find a battered old camper van and have heaps of fun exploring with your family.
Whatever the end result something will be added to your life. AS Edison said each filament that didn't work was a success inn adding to a list of stuff not to be used. Mistakes are knowledge.
Choc chip cookies were invented as a result of improvising a mistake as were may other inventions.
All studies into lucky and unlucky people show significant differences in what they believe is possible and not just as a result of what has happened to them ie they don't just feel lucky because good things have always happened to them but view the same mishaps and opportunities in completely different ways.
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
