There is nothing wrong with a good brand of frozen roasties - and they are well worth buying if they are on special offer! Many of us have neither the time nor the inclination to spend endless time slaving over a hot stove, especially at Christmas, and we haven't all got helpers standing by who are willing/able to get stuck in. Ready prepared potatoes save time and effort.

You were probably just trying to make a bit of a joke but your comment came over as a bit patronising towards anyone who wants to cut a few corners>

    Tired Mom

the tesco finest goose roast potatoes are also the best I've tasted.
I think 2/3 bags would be enough for you all.

Thanks chesky369 and skiTTish, had never heard of freezing roasties, will definitely give it a go.

  • Any further advice for freezing roast potatoes? Do I completely cook, then freeze? If so, how long do I cook them for when reheating? Would a half hour at ~190C be enough?

I fully cook mine before freezing. The time it takes to reheat them will depend on the size, the oven temp and if you thaw them before putting in the oven.

I would say half hour at ~190C would be enough if they were thawed first. It may also be enough if they were frozen and not too big.

It's a bit trial and error, but leaving them in the oven for 10 minutes longer than needed won't ruin them.
  • I had to report back and say the Tesco finest roasties in goose fat are the best! Went to get some more today and they had sold out!
