    Frozen roast potatoes?
why not just have a turkey burger to go with them

There is nothing wrong with a good brand of frozen roasties - and they are well worth buying if they are on special offer! Many of us have neither the time nor the inclination to spend endless time slaving over a hot stove, especially at Christmas, and we haven't all got helpers standing by who are willing/able to get stuck in. Ready prepared potatoes save time and effort.

You were probably just trying to make a bit of a joke but your comment came over as a bit patronising towards anyone who wants to cut a few corners>

because some of us are old and/or decrepit and/or have what feels like 6 million kids and we'd like to enjoy Christmas rather than spend the entire day slaving over a veg peeler and a hot oven... one boneless turkey crown, bag of frozen potatoes, bag of prepared sprouts later we've got our feet up with a glass of home made sloe gin or a snowball... but if you really enjoy doing it all from scratch then please feel free to make the most of it, you can come and do mine as well if you'd like, I've got 15 for dinner :D

    Helpful - NOT!
  • Myself and my OH we like the McCain Goose Fat ones, however they seem to be slowly disapearing and we can only find them in Waitrose, however if i (dare) venture in Tesco tommorrow i may try there own brand version!

The normal Tesco ones for 79p are rather nice and unlike Somerfield, Iceland or Morrisons own brands, don't ooze what seems like litres of fat.

I have not tried the goose fat ones. Do they give out lots of fat?

No, not much at all, you just end up with crispy yet very fluffy roast potatoes that are very very tasty!!!!

I must try them then, if they are on offer especially.

    Thanks.

I was just watching a TV programme which mentioned you could freeze your own roast potatoes - must admit I'd never even considered doing this. Quite a good idea to do your own when it's nice and quiet, then take them out of the freezer early Xmas morning and heat them through for 20 minutes or so. Might give it a go beforehand to see how it works.
  • Like the sound of tesco pots, might try them before christmas.
