Beware of Parcel monkey

Booked them back in November. UPS didn't turn up - I accept that happens. I cancelled Parcel Monkey that evening as couldn't wait in again the next day.
Parcel monkey agreed to refund. I chased for refund for a week. No refund.
I opened a paypal dispute and emailed again. No refund.
I escalated to a claim a week after that. money gets returned a week later. Total: 3 weeks for a refund
Money is not refunded on original transaction, so I get charged a 43p paypal fee on my refund.
There is no sellers address on their Paypal account, which makes me uncomfortable too.
Glad my first transaction with them went wrong - will never deal with them again.

Hi, when I hit my non-response problems I began googling parcel monkey and a number of forums came to this conclusion.
When I spoke to Citylink, the first girl didn't know of any problems and they were still taking orders, the second girl alerted me to 'issues' with parcel monkey. They couldn't get hold of anyone at all but a manager at (southampton?) led her to belive that there were serious issues.0 -
If they are operating as normal, then god help you. I've defended them many times in the courier thread, but finally had enough. Never again.0

Thanks for the heads-up. I've googled and there do seem to be a lot of recent issues.
I've emailed buyer and said if he still wants to go with Parcelmonkey, he will have to bear the cost of the item if it is lost in the post. If he is not happy to do this then I will not send via Parcelmonkey which was his preferred courier.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

My thoughts too, they have been 99% poerfect inthe past.
My final email before legal action has been ignored too.
Was called by Citylink in Southampton again today, my parcel has been found (Some poor so* was tasked for a whole shift!) [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] Anyone else have recommendations for another courier? we send a reasonable mount of stuff out, all large volume but low weight so RM are well out of the frame..0 -

With all due respect that is open to problems.
You are the seller, it is an Ebay sale (if I understood correctly a few posts back). Therefore, it is your responsibility and yours alone to get the item to the buyer. As a seller, I would not be allowing my buyers to dictate their preferred courier.
What if you use Parcelmonkey and they lose the parcel? How do you envisage forcing him to bear the cost? Ebay and Paypal will trample all over you.0 -

Im not sure about parcelmonley's status but from your post I realise its not parcelmonkey's fault its bloody Citylink's fault. Parcelmonkey is a middleman that orders the courier pickup for you at a lower rate if the courier arrives then parcelmonkey has done their job, from then on anything that happens to the parcel is the couriers fault i.e the parcel didn't get to the delivery address, Citylink has always been late when I recieve a delivery from them. Unless parcelmonkey somehow places the order for pickup and then take the money back from the courier, don't know how that can happen, though.0 -
Not altogether true. Parcelmponkey are the City Link client. They should deal with problems. They haven't been doing.0

There are different circumstances relating to why he chose the courier and he has agreed to bear the cost if the parcel is not delivered, however, as a matter of fairness, I would go halves with him.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

There may be any number of circumstances, but Paypal won't care a dot.
Paypal will not go halves or consider anything you say unless you prove delivery via an online trackable means. If you cannot prove it, then your money will be his.
Edit - and if you let him take charge of the 'delivery' you may end up both out of pocket on the money and the goods.
How well do you know your buyer?0 -
Reasonably well. He's a decent bloke and has agreed by email the risk is his.
I am aware I may get burned, but I hope not.
My situation is complicated at the moment and if I have to let this go, I will. I will, however, guard myself more in the future.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0
