you also have to stop at the red signals in the middle of the tunnel when there is congestion on the line

Its all coming clear, how do they manage to learn all that in just 16 weeks training. Must be pure geniuses.

Hmmm Can someone post a link to how much bus drivers earn and how much tube drivers earn?
Sorry cannot get it to work, google bus/train drivers salary and you will find loads of official stuff. Tube drivers also do a four day week and get 43 days paid holiday PA.

London Bus Drivers earn between £10 and £12 an hour, with lots of enhancements on top for working rest days, nights, weekends etc etc

They will be on something like £ 475 to £525 a week for a 4 day week, without any overtime.

So I guess a tube driver will earn £ 52,000 pa if the OP is correct.

£41k basic for 4 day week. Sundays and any extra is at enhanced rate. Averages out just over £50k
    100% funded pension.
1 years ful sick pay for non work related sickness
    etc etc.

  • Blimey, for an unskilled job (16 weeks is hardly a lot of training for a £52k job) thats pretty amazing. Aren't the hours very unsociable though?

    I've been Money Tipped!
I never understand why a pilot is around 4 times or even more times the pay than a train driver?
  • Why do tube drivers get paid so much more than a soldier fighting in Afghanistan? Bus drivers too!

    GG

Train driving is overpaid because it's all traditionally 'men's work'. And heavily unionised.

Tube drivers have to give loud longwinded updates on why the train is delayed, bus drivers just have to grunt.

Also tube staff probably cop more abuse, and the suicides have been mentioned.
  • because they are hateful filth and the public have been stitched up by the unions.

they should leave the doors open and let us drive ourselves to work. the DLR doesn;t have drivers. no need for the tube to have them either. replace the drivers with two security guards per train.
