Think your average ambulace driver sees a lot worse, and for less pay.
There must be a reason somewhere.0 -

Fair comment, I just cannot figure out why there is a difference.0 -
1. There are only a limited number of tube drivers there as there are loads of bus drivers in London and the rest of the country.
2. They have a strong union
3. Their job is f**** boringI'm not cynical I'm realistic

1. It take 16 weeks to train a tube driver from scratch.
2. Seems to be the only valid reason so far.
3. So are many jobs that pay much less.0 -
they have to sit in a dark hole underground all day. at least bus drivers get to see the traffic jam.0

Of course, and drivers of all road vehicles may well witness bad traffic accidents too. The key word is probably "accident" though- seeing so many unhappy people choosing to deliberately end their lives right in front of you, and feeling the crunch as they do so must be rather depressing.
I wouldn't be tempted to apply; monotonous, unsociable and a lot of responsibility. At least being a pilot you get a dashing uniform and to hang out with hot cabin crew. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
