All is good.
Thank goodness for that. I was worried our benefits were going to be frozen this year - we've almost paid off the flat-screen TV and looking forward to our second holiday so glad to hear that we haven't been targeted! :money:0 -
I don't get where all the money is going to come from to fill the defecit (other than my NHS salary!!!)
I totally disagree with this bloomin' bingo cut - nuts! There are much greater things for us to be cutting right now.
I would have liked to have seen some tough action all around to be honest, this is too namby pamby!
What I would have liked to see:
Modest increase in tax across the board
Abolish child benefit
Cut pension credit rates
Cut job seekers allowance (unless they community earnt it!)
Tax second cars
Make fags £10 a packet
(and yes, I have kids and 2 cars and work public sector and unfortunately smoke!)
What I would have brought in:
Heavily subsidised or free healthy school meals for all kids
Heavily subsidised or free school uniform of equitable standard for all school age kids
Total review of public transport systems to ensure they're working for all.
Much fairer review of costs for the elderly, with money spent on support / care networks.
Subsidy on fresh fruit and veg for all (to ultimately reduce the NHS bill)
Me for PM!!!0 -

New labour definitions:
Hard working families - floating voters
The most vulnerable young people in society - vicious teenage thugs
sure there are many more0 -

The bankers bonus tax is a one-off.JonnyBravo wrote: »He said from today.
They'll merely postpone paying bonuses until afterwards. :rolleyes:0 -
A good budget, if you earn less than 20k per annum - as far as I see the 0.5% NI raise only applies to wages above that amount.
This increase in NI is on top of the rise announced already for next year. So the true increase is actually far higher.
Not sure what the effect is though.
Does anybody know?0 -
I work in the NHS, not "frontline" though. Pay Rise cap was expected and to be fair we should be grateful we get a rise. I look forward to walking through the picket lines0
