Hi All, just wanted to say thanks again for all your advice and wishes yesterday. I'm like a roller coaster at the mo, up and down. Now I'm up.:D

Went to town last night and Mum said i could pick myself some christmas stuff which was SO weird:eek: Not used to being able to spend money on myself, and not have to justify the cost! Got a Thin Lizzy jumper, a Zippy bag (Zippy from rainbow, hence my name), gloves that turn from fingerless gloves to mittens, and got some kitchen bits in TK max - little things . Oh and my favourite incense. So i spent £86 of mums money which was weird but totally cool. I kept ringing her asking if I could buy this and did this sound ok - im really not used to spending money on myself! Moneysaving is totally ingrained. I found myself in the RTC section :rotfl:

I finished most of my pressies too, so only really Mum to buy (who is VERY hard to buy for . Like nightmare hard - Im a great present picker) . I have an eeyore i cross stitched for her years ago so will get a frame, and stitch Mum on it. She can like it or lump it. Doing her Barnardos donation today and need to buy mum sparkly things that aren't cosmetics/toiletries, clothes, slippers, food, craft stuff, house stuff, emmm im sure theres more on the "don't get me this" list.:o

Passed a present wrapping stall - held by Clic Sargent. I knew the girl on it from past dealings with them, so have volulnteered to help up until christmas. Should be fun! I feel I was meant to walk past that stall if that makes sense.?! I have also got a girl in work doing it too as they are really short of volunteers at the mo, so am trying to rope more people in without making them feel forced.:o

Was horrified in a shop, I heard this woman shouting at her child, must have been about 10. She slapped her SO HARD i turned round in shock, and she caught me with my mouth hanging open and cringing. Told her to effin behave herself. People make me sick sometimes...:mad::mad: I had to walk away before I said something to her.

Crochet is going ok, I now have a mentor Dazi , who doesn't know what she has let herself in for:A:rotfl: I am making a twirly scarf.

Food - last nights dinner and todays lunch was Stew from my neighbour. Tonights dinner is mince pasta donated by friend I made the banoffee for :j No cooking for me. Micro, ding, eat. Will make some wheaten tonight though.

Watched a cooking programme last night with John torrode - focus was on greek food. Very interesting and made me want greek food. Also watched the two fat ladies for the first time. They are so incredibly posh, there were quite a few words I coulnd't understand at all!

Haribo - good luck for your appointment with the neuro tomoro xxx Scrabble is good advice he he:kiss::tongue:

Pink - glad to hear MIL is on the road to recovery xxx :T

    Cheers to Tru!

Sunnygirl - sorry to hear about your friendxxx

    Redruby - fingers crossed!

NMLC - great news your dad doesn't need surgery

    Owens - Welcome! :j

Reverbe - thanks for your kind comment yesterday on the daily. Hope you get something sorted too x

Bitsy - poor you, here's hoping DD and DS recover ASAP and you have a sick free chrimbo !

Lamewolf - glad hubbys party went well! My friend visited the other day and hadn't seen my kitchen since it went in. I said to her " ohhh look have you seen my kitchen light (i spent over a hundred pounds on when i had the money ) and was then horrified to see it was covered in cobwebs! :rotfl:Totally embarassed I highlighted them !

Edited - damn smileys wouldn't work!

Hi Chums, late on parade today as I have been whizzing around doing Grannytype things for the grandchildren .
Hester thats rotten news for your husband I do hope he can get something soon.I had to go to the local electrical wholesalers this morning to buy some bulbs for my kitchen The R50 screw-in spotlight type. They are so much cheaper if you buy 6 at a time.Whilst there three different chaps came in asking if they had any work at all, and one young lad of about 17 was asking if they knew of anyone who would take him on as an apprentice. Its so sad to think that able- bodied blokes are out there looking for work and there is just nothing around I live in the so-called soft south-east which is seemingly suffering from the same lack of work as the rest of the country.
Just going to have my afternoon coffee Hope everyone has a good day

Maybe you could come up with a compromise whereby she spends the day with the family & you all have your meal together, then she can go to the boyfriend for Boxing Day? We have a similar situation with my sons - mum & OH, dad & wife, grandparents (only one set now as both my parents are no longer with us) plus each has a girlfriend & her family!

I could; and we did do this a couple of years back when we were badly behind as in likely to miss the last posting date.
But in the spirit of MS, it's cheaper to use a pen and Mr LW's paw-power.:D
It was OK, because we were both working on it, iyswim:o

    Afternoon all!

Slightly pooped today, was home very late this morning, due to having our work Chrimbo dinner, not sure that eating sprouts at 1am is good for the digestion though! The joys of working evenings and nights! As a result no OS stuff has been done other than lunches for the kids and ironing some more uniform for dd3 earlier!

OS stuff today will be pretty non existent, other than handwashing the expensive jumper that dd1 wants to wear to school on Friday for mufti day - daren't throw it in the machine in case I damage it!

Not seen the gas man so far today, so will phone and chase them! dd1 said she didn't sleep well as she was so cold, made me giggle cos the heating goes off at 9pm and doesn't come on again till 6am! So not a lot colder than usual, wasn't that chilly here last night even!

Lunches: couscous with lemon, herbs, peppers, chick peas and feta, tub of raisins, choc cookies

Dinner: roast pork with something, not sure what yet though!

Time for a quick catch up before the school run now, hugs where needed xx

I'm disappointed that my niece isn't coming here for Christmas, was going to be lovely for the four cousins to be together. She's moving into a flat with her b/f shortly and doesn't want to leave him there. Don't know why that should happen, as they're both living with b/f's mum right now.

Family has got a bit big to be all together really. My parents will be here till 27th and my bro and family arrive on 27th, so at least we'll have most of the day together.

My sis doesn't give much of a t*ss about being with the family for Christmas, but is making a point, as I invited her and her chap. My parents never invite the chap to stuff, so she's rubbing it in I think.

As a family we don't fare too badly. On the whole there's only one that doesn't try and fit in with everyone else (my sis). My SIL has her partner's dad very poorly at the moment so I think they will spend Christmas there.

    Afternoon everyone!

I've been having a lovely day playing with my new camera and uploading pics to my Flickr account. Oooh I am having fun with it. Look at this beautiful rose that is blooming in my garden at this very moment.

I've got to rush out and fetch dd from school in a mo, then I shall prep their lunchboxes for tomorrow- crusty bread and cheese. Supper tonight will be a Mexican bean enchilada type thing.

By the way I had instant success shoe buying yesterday, bought and loved the first pair I picked up, £10 off too!

I know how you feel TM, this year for the first time DS is going to his girlfriends for Xmas Day, she feels it is the last year she can have a big Xmas get together. They have been together 3 years and this is the first time they will spend Xmas Day together. They will come up north either very late Xmas Day (I doubt this) or on Boxing Day to join the Boxing Day "meet" (booze up), then spend 27th-30th with us returning for a NY party where he is now. We have the wedding of our godson on the 29th, so that means we cannot go away for New Year in the caravan as we normally do, so we have Xmas in the middle and no start and end. Xmas Day will be just DH and me:rolleyes:, as parents no longer with us (well OK Dad has dementia but he is not with us either), cannot really get in the spirit. Next year it is our turn, but would have preferred it the other way round, as if we didn't have the wedding may have stayed in Spain. No use falling out about it, it happens just with small families it is hard.

Had a nice meet with Jayward yesterday as she toured the shops and market of Donny, well as far as we could manage, I have a chesty infection thingy at the moment, so rather quiet and a bit breathless. Tomorrow we are off for a long weekend in the caravan it will be nice to see friends not seen since September.

Hi everyone - Hester, that sucks - I bet they won't get anyone half as capable or reliable.

tired mum - I sympathise, my dd will be in Australia on Christmas Day. Luckily DS is spending the day with us so that will be nice.

Drum roll: I did the ironing mountain last night. Cheated on the meal though and bought chips to go with egg and beans. I shall cook the gammon tonight.

I need to start writing the Christmas cards and thinking about decorations which in previous years would be done by now - I'm even contemplating not having a tree as I'm not feeling very festive.
