Hi all, hoping some kind soul will take 2 mins to explain how the points system works, iv asked instore and been met with blank faces:rolleyes: hmmm, anyhoo, iv a clubcard, and clubcard plus and creditcard. ( all from tesco obviously)

If i hand over clubcard and then pay on clubcardplus do i gain triple points or double or just one point on each card?

If i get my hubby a clubcard, should i use his when i shop and pay with my plus card, oh lordy, dunno, all i know is i need as many points as i can for me airmiles, thanking anyone in advance.
  • If I am shopping instore is there any way of getting extra points for the items I buy other than extra point vouchers I recieve in the post/till spits. I know online there are codes but I prefer to browse instore and get good use-by dates etc. Also is there any way of increasing my till spits?

    Hi,

I'm not a major expert on the Clubcard scheme, but I didn't think you had to give your clubcard in addition to your clubcard plus card, as your clubcard plus card will have your clubcard details already setup.

For the credit card, isn't the rule for every £4 spent, you get 5 points.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

There is lots of info regarding CCP on this thread

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=142152

The general gist is that you get double points on using CCP but you then don't get extra points using your CC. If you were to swipe your normal card 1st you would only get single points. As far as I'm aware your credit card gives you 1.5 points per £1 spent.

Would probably be best to get your hubby a CCP so he can earn double points as well. And remember don't link the cards otherwise you only get one set of mailings sent out therefore losing valuable bonus points etc.

    Hope this helps

Why is it I've only ever ONCE received a tillspit and I shop at Tesco at least 3 times a week??? I've even resorted to getting a new Clubcard (so far unregistered) and still no tillspits! I heard people saying that these are issued on Mondays - but I've never had any on a Monday and definitely tried this one out yesterday with new clubcard and still no Joy!

    Any help much appreciated.

I have a clubcard and, like you shop in Tesco's frequently. OH also has a clubcard and usually only uses it for petrol. WHENEVER he goes in to the main shop (about once a month!) He gets a till spit! Today he got £5 off a £50 shop! I now take his and use it once a fortnight! Hopefully rotating our cllubcards will mean he gets till spits and so do I!

I would agree with this, in my experience, rather than it being particular days - they seem to use them to boost / regain loyalty. So if you have a card you haven't used for a while and then go in and do a decent sized shop >£20, chances are you'll get one. So make sure you have a few cards - if you use them all regularly tho, you'll not get many till spits.

A couple of weeks ago they started doing till splits for 20p off bananas or 30p off potatoes - waste of time, when you can use coupons worth much more and these tied you into spend 80p on bananas to get it or £1.50 on potatoes etc. - I gave mine away to people instore who had lots of potatoes / bananas in their trolleys!

As a tesco employee, we rarely,if never look to see if the names match to clubcards and clubcard vouchers/payment cards.
use other peoples clubcards if they don't mind to gain points that way.

be nice and friendly to the cashier. some people leave behind coupons etc,and we tend to give themaway to a friendly customer (Dont ask for it though, we're not supposed to do this!)
and don't forget to remind the cashier of green points for bag reuse - we do forget!

also, a lot of people don't have clubcards, mainly thinking they are scams or something, but it is storepolicy toaskthe customer doyou have a clubcard.
listen to the customers reply. some will say they dont have one, just ask the customer, then the cashier if you can have the points. but other customeers may say "i left it at home" so please do listen to the reply.

another trick is the recipts. many people leave them behind in trolleys,or on the floor etc. if it has a barcode on the bottom, clubcard points have not been used yet, so just take it to customer services, and if its within 4 weeeks of the transaction,, they will load themto you no problem.

    hope this helps!

  • I got a coupon with my tesco delivery today which entitles you to 200 clubcard points when you register and activate a free trial with tesco dvd rental.

The code is TDR32JY, but you are not eligible if you've already had a free trial with lovefilm (same company i think) - so I just used OH's details to register. You get 30 days free trial and obviously the 200 points, as well as points on any money you spend if you extend your registration beyond the trial.

You have to add 10 available dvds to your rental list and have the first one despatched to become eligible for the points - and then they credit them within 30 days apparently. If you don't want to continue after the trial, cancel before 30 days is up to avoid being charged.

Don't forget that you can also go through quidco for £4 cashback!
