As long as it has enough charge to switch on it should be ok I believe. If it's totally flat they may just treat it as broken. If you think how many phones they get of different makes I doubt they would do anything else to check them so I guess it depends whether you have the 300 or 500 point envelopes as to whether it would be economical to buy a charger just to send the phone in.

Thinking about it I've got quite a few spares left from all the phones I've sent in. I think they are mainly from the cheapos I've got off ebay. If you want pm me and if I've got one that you want I'll send you one for free (second class post of course biggrin.gif ). If it works then stick a quid in your favourite charity box but please DON'T bother sending it back.

I think you could get them under the unfair terms in consumer contracts regulations, as it didnt say in the tc and cs that the inkjets even had to be your own and this wasnt clear, so it falls foul of these regulations !!! They have refused to even credit my points for 405 carts because they changed their ts and cs RETROSPECTIVELY !!!! I have an email stating NO limit on the 6th March, however ts and cs state they were changed from the 1st march !!!!!! I think we all have a case and TESCO will have to honour, I will join with anyone to complain am willing to go on TV or anything.

Sorry mate but I couldn't disagree more with all that.

Not sure what you mean by "caught" or "taking the pee" - what on earth are these people supposed to have done wrong? There was nothing in the T+Cs about maximum limits. And Tesco get the same money off the recycling company whether 1 person sends 5000 cartridges, or 5000 people each send 1 cartridge. It's all about recycling, innit? I thought the more stuff got recycled, the better. Surely everyone's a winner if someone sends in thousands of cartridges? How is anyone losing out?

It's the most clear cut case of breach of contract I've ever heard of. No reason why anyone would struggle putting a case like that before a court (and win).

Anyway, I'm 99.9% sure Tesco would never let the case reach a court hearing if a claim was served (and I speak from personal experience).

They will act tough when corresponding with you, but when their legal department looks at the case, they will immediately know that Tesco don't have a cat in hell's chance of successfully defending it.

And even if they thought there was only a slight chance of losing, they still wouldn't risk it going to a hearing because the publicity would be absolutely disastrous if they lost.

(In the same way that the banks haven't defended a single case of reclaimed bank charges).

You've got to remember that whichever jumped up little department manager has made this decision, they are not legally qualified, just like all those store managers and Tinpot Hitlers in the Dundee CS centre who gave us all that grief in the R+R days.

It's only after you make a court claim that someone with legal knowledge in their Cheshunt head office takes an objective realistic look at the case, and realises Tesco are in the wrong in the eyes of a court.

"unfortunetley there is now a limit of 30 per year." (pawpurrs)

??? cant see it on any of the T+C's bags or by calling tesco clubcard.... how do you know and when will it be in effect from?.... can they backdate this new rule and take away points already credited to your account?... does the new year (30 per year) start from january (backdated) of from the date it is added to terms and conditions?>... do they have to show the rule on t+c's in order to enforce it..../???.. because a limit of 30 or any limit for that maatter is still not on there.

Cant work this one out.... being told one thing by one person and another by someone else........ can someone clarify where we all stand with this bungled recycling scheme!

I have been saving them up through friends and family and have just sent of 170 ish of them to my own account (between 24-2-08 and 1-3-08) and am wondering if they will ever make it through to getting the points... given that there has been no information on this t+c change... least of all on the t+c's ... should they have to accept them and credit me??????? :D or not:eek:

You don't need it to be charged up. I contacted them recently about this as I was sending in an old phone and couldn't find the charger to get it going. They said they have all the chargers there so as long as it is in working order you will get the points - and I did.
  • I would love any tips to do with a clubcard. Can any kind soul direct me as to where I should post!

    Thanks very much!
