Thats interesting, I tried a different airport (Boston) and managed to get a return flight in early august. NY is showing nothing at all in August for airmiles at either airport, neither is Washington. Will have to investigate further I suppose and see if theres anywhere else 5000 miles will get us on the east coast.
But the question you gotta ask yourself is did you really want to go to Boston in the first place and if you didn't wanna go there then how much extra is it really going to cost you to travel to and from Boston to where you actually wanted to go..............................

For anyone collecting Tesco Clubcard points they would be far better advised to redeem £10 of Clubcard vouchers in to £40 of Clubcard rewards tokens as these can then be used directly to book with Eurotunnel, Irish Ferries, P & O, Stena Line and Wightlink. £50 of Tesco Clubcard Vouchers will be needed for 1,000 Air Miles at the new lower exchange rate but those £50 of Clubcard Vouchers could instead be turned directly in to £200 of ferry travel via Clubcard reward tokens.

In other words you can directly exchange Tesco Clubcard vouchers in to ferry tickets at a four times higher exchange rate than is available if they are converted in to Air Miles and then turned in to ferry tickets. The only potential problem is with Clubcard vouchers expring after two years and quite a lot of vouchers being needed for many ferry crossings. By contrast Air Miles never expire so long as you collect one air mile per year..........

    See www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/browse.aspx?N=4294967191&bid=HTravel for more information.

Yes, it is absolutely rubbish deal from airmiles..

Exchanging airmiles for anything else then their weekly deals and flights with premium airlines is generaly bad deal.

I meant I experimented with a different airport to see if I could get it to show flights in AUgust. Wherever we go on the east coast we will get internal flights as well to go to florida for a week. But I wanted to go to either NY or Washington so we can spend a few days there too. Philadelphia wasn't showing AUgust flights either, not that I wanted to go there but would in order to use my airmiles.
AArgh looking this morning found a suitable flight to JFK - but for 2 people and I need 4 for the family! grr

Yes thanks - it helps a lot. I applied via the airmiles website and can see it is a different offer.

My credit cards arrived today - am going to spend the 'nominal' £10 and then cut them up!

can you tell me how long it took to get the 1500 freebe?

had the card 3 weeks, first bill arrived, paid in full. closing date for bill two weeks away yet, any thoughts?

  • As the thread name says I want to boost my airmiles for a hotel stay in Las Vegas next year. I don't want another credit card so I would like to know if Tesco are giving extra points on any food/drink items. I know there are extra points in the Direct catalogue but I don't want to buy anything from the catalogue either.
    It's 5 o'clock somewhere!

Do you not have the Airmiles AMEX? i know you do not want another card but for just a single use (£10) you get a 1500 mile voucher (eventually) which can be added to other miles balances to get wherever. i think the only restriction is you need to book one night in accommodation but it seems thats already in your plan?

Some availability in Aug 2011 for Newark - have you checked both Newark & JFK? 2/8/11 - 12/8/10 for example. Don't know how long you want to go for.

The problem we have is that there is availability for 2 people but not for a family of 4, to the extent we were considering booking on 2 separate days and going in pairs which is obviously far from ideal. We also considered 2 of us going to newark and 2 to jfk but haven't yet found a three week spread of dates, as we want to go for 3 weeks to give us time for a road trip.
Currently OH in touch with airmiles who are going to get back to us today (allegedly!)

I shopped at my local Tesco today and spent just £4.55 and with the receipt came offers to boost my points. These 'tickets' come out of the machine with the receipt on occasion; not always. The ones I got today are 200 extra points on a £20 Orange Top-Up (available at the till) valid until 26/09/10, and also I got one I've not seen before, for Triple Points on your entire shopping bill in the store of issue; in one transaction, of course! There are some exceptions, though, on items bought, e.g., excludes infant milk formulae, lottery, prescription medicines and others. But for all your household needs and food and drink you can buy a shedload and get triple points; valid until 12/09/10, in the one transaction.
Btw, on the Boost Your Tesco Clubcard Points Discussion forum you should get loads of ideas, but the thread is closed, for some reason. Just have a good read through, looking back on it:

I am so sorry but I can't remember. It was about 4 weeks I think - we booked flights and first night hotel in Miami with the airmiles.
