I have encountered all of the above didn't add phone number in the email as I had tried many and left out the access code because I didn't know which one and the e mail seemed to send I THINK! have also just checked if I have been charged today and there are none so don't know what I did differently

Same problem with 1899 this afternoon (OK this morning)

    Sent them an email
    Got an instant reply:
    helpdesk 08-12-2009 Dear customer,

We are experiencing a problem with calls to numbers in the UK. The tariff is not correct at the moment. We are trying to solve it as soon as possible. Please try again later. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Regards,
    Customer service

Yes - received same message from 18185 -"...experiencing a problem with calls to numbers in the UK..." so it seems that the problem has been recognised by 18185. Perhaps they will put up a message on their home page, letting everyone know when it's safe to try again - without the risk of getting the 10p/min charge plonked on, even when the number called isn't answered!
if i had known then what i know now
  • As of 10 minutes ago the 18185 tarriff message was back to "zero pee per minute". Haven't tried it yet though.

Thanx for that - I had just completed checking that my 18866 account was still active, and prepared changes to my spreadsheet (always a nervy expeience), then checked the forum and found your message just in time.

Just tried a couple of calls and it seems to be back to normal.

My aunt had this problem this afternoon.

Any idea of the procedure of claiming back the incorrectly charged call - she was charged 16p for a call that should have been 5p. Fortunately she noticed the announcement before making too many calls.

I just sent them another message through their website and asked them to refund the cost of the two calls I made which didn't ring but I still got charged 15p each. They still show on my account so not sure if I'll get a refund but if you don't ask you don't get.

Finally found the way to email them so I have asked for the extra cost to be refunded.
