18185 Local Calls Mischarging
Comments

Hi! Ia am being charged 10p/m on both 1899 & 18185. On 18866 it says 0p/min, so I'' use it in the meantime.
I think the messages are from 1899 etc because the voice has not changed.0 -
I am also getting the 10p per minute message to UK landline numbers. I ended the calls immediately as I don't want to get into trying to recover the money. I've reported it via their website but what a kerfuffle trying to find access to a form to contact them!
ETA: Just checked my bill with them online and even though I put the phone down as soon as the 10p message came up I've been charged 15p each for a 3 second call and a 6 second call even though the phone didn't ring.0 -
I had the same today. Made call from our home phone (BT line rental) to UK landline number that I've called many times before - the "10p per minute" message came up - too gobsmacked to terminate call before it was answered! When I checked my 18185 account a few minutes later, sure enough, there it was! Call made at 12:53 and I was charged 15p!!!
And I've found it impossible to email them - their "contact us" just goes round in a loop to FAQs and back - there's no way that I can actually get an email sent! I'd be glad if any of you who have managed to contact 18185 by email let us know how you managed this seemingly impossible feat! Or has anyone managed to contact them by phone?
Meanwhile the website is still showing the "0p per minute" call charge to UK landline numbers....if i had known then what i know now0 -

Aaarrghh!!! I've just looked at my account again - I had to make another call to the same UK landline number - charged the higher rate again! Interstingly, a call I made today at 1135am was charged at the usual 5p connection charge, but two later calls copped the higher charges: a 5-second call - 15p and a later 1minute,43-second call - 25p!! We are not amused!
Tom'sMum, thanks for your suggestion re emailing - I shall now try this. Wish me luck!if i had known then what i know now0 -
I did exactly the same as TomsMum. If you actually dial "18185" before the number then you need to select Service Access Code from the selection list, and you also need to specify the phone numbers without spaces otherwise you will get an error.0

We've been caught with 1899 today as well. Phoned after 12 noon and was charged 65p for a 6min. landline UK call. Managed to crack the code for reporting a fault, and have e.mailed them. Waiting to hear, but also not holding our breath. Haven't tried 18866 yet, but will give it a whirl and see what happens.0

Me too....
Just checked my calls, and I was charged £0.55 for a 4.24 min. call at 13.48. Another local call I made at 11.15 was charged correctly. I've sent a message via the route suggested in #150 -

Oops! I selected the other one Carrier something or other. I thought that that 18185 was a Carrier Provider Service or whatever it is called
. Whatever, they have the account number so will be able to sort it out, hopefully! 0 -
Hooray! Managed to get through via email, following TomsMum's suggestion - will be interesting to see if a reply comes through. But can't remember whether I clicked "Service Access Code" or the "carrier" box from the selection list! Bother! Surely they will be able to sort it out with all the other details that I provided........if i had known then what i know now0
