PLease can someone tell me if the FVRT100 sounds the same in standby and 'ON'? Mine is audible in the TV cabinet and I cannot hear any difference between the 2 modes

    Thanks

Yup, it sounds like the hard drive, dont think it is a fan. Doesn't appear to turn off in standby - I guess its recording the last 30mins all the time?

Would be nice to turn it off.

Oh how I wish those solid state ones would become affordable - no noise!

I recently bought the refurbished FVRT100. First one worked fine for 3-4 days then started freezing, responding slowly to commands or constantly displaying hold. Eventually it wouldn't reset so I returned it for replacement.

Replacement unit worked fine for a few days, and has now started to show the same symptoms as the first unit. Oh dear, it doesn't look as if the well reported problems with the unit have been fixed by the refurbished version. Did anyone get one that worked perfectly for more than a week?

I believe this unit automatically updates the software overnight - perhaps the latest version of software is not suitable for the FVRT100?

It updates the EPG overnight. OTA broadcasts of firmware are very infrequent.

Sound like it came with the weaker 2A power supply.

Seems I spoke too soon when I said 'good news' about claiming back the return postage on this (I got the refund for the actual item ok). Anyone else still having trouble - or indeed any success stories ?

    So far...

E-mails to and from customer services appeared to go well. Attempted to send a copy of the the receipt via fax several times, but cs claimed not to receive it.

Finally called the 0870 number (not happy about doing so) and attempted to send the receipt whilst I has the cs agent on the line. Lo and behold, their fax was faulty....

He said I could send it via e-mail, which I did and I also e-mailed to confirm he had received it. he had, and all appeared to be going well.

Since then, he has 'passed it to the accounts department' - which seemed to disappear into a black hole. After chasing once more, he passed it through again, expressing the urgency (yeah, right!) - still nothing.

Another e-mail chasing.... and I received a reply saying that I had already been refunded for the item. I bl**dy well know that, it was quite clear it was the POSTAGE I am trying to get ! So I spelt it out again, telling him to read the e-mail fully again.

And I have now been asked to send the receipt in again !
This wouldn't be so laughable if it wasn't the SAME GUY I've been contacting all during this saga. I'm sure he must deal with a lot of cases throughout the day, but no excuse for not reading through the e-mails correctly is there ?

I've let him know this is the last attempt before it escalates. It might only be for £11.75, but I've got the time if they have....
