  • I've NEVER been told to register my card, didn't even know you could. I won a card with £175 on last week so thanks for the head up, I'd better register it!

Keep plugging away and if you need help let us know. I'll keep checking this thread.

Exactly, I have never been told to, my Mam hasn't, Husbands Mam hasn't. I wondered if it was just that our local stores aren't following correct procedures? I don't know how to register though seeing as I didn't even know you could - I guess you will have to ask a member of staff?

I know it all sounds very complicated but there must be a way they can trace your mums card. Can your Mum remember just the last day and rough time that she topped up the card? (Even if she doesn't have the receipt.) At my Mums place they caught their Security Guard shoplifting! (Yeah I know!) He had 2 bottles of wine and said "Oh I paid for them earlier" They were able to go straight though their system and found that 2 bottles of this wine had not been purchased at one time on that particular day. So they should be able to look through transactions and maybe find something.

I really hope they sort this out for your Mum Dawnylou and it's lovely to see all the support you are receiving. Lets just hope Asda do the right thing! xx

    Nope :(

I replied on the 10th and got an autoreply to say out of office til today. But no response today. Don't know whether to forward my reply to her again? Or is that silly?

I forwarded the reply again on the 14th and got another auto reply this time saying she was out of office until 16th Dec.
However when I got home from work yesterday I had a reply:

    Thank you for your reply.

I'm sorry your mum wasn't advise to keep receipts and register her card. Most colleague will advise this and it is stated in the terms & conditions which come with the card to keep the transaction receipt and to treat the card like cash.

I'm afraid we aren't liable for any lost of stolen cards but I did understand how upsetting this will be for your mum. Please let me know your mums address and as a gesture of goodwill I'll send a £20 gift card.

On next years savings card we will have a registration which will allow customers to protect the balances on their cards when registering. I hope your mum will save on the card again next year.

Once again thank you for contacting me and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

So at least they are offering a little something to help cushion the blow but a shame Mam has still lost so much.

Of course I understand they are not liable - but I am upset that anyone can just take a savings card from anyone and just use it. :( Hopefully this will be different as from next year though!
I hate scum - but scum always seem to win to be honest :(

But never mind it's the season of goodwill - time to move onwards and upwards :)
I am making lunch for Mam and Dad (and in-laws too!! Yikes) this year and it might not be a huge feast, but at least she will be with those that love her :)

Just to let you all know - Mam received a letter from Asda today with £20 giftcard :)
I just so happened to be paying her a visit today so was there when she opened it.

Obviously she is still £70 down, but she was so surprised!! I felt all warm inside when I was watching her read the letter!! :)

Thank you all for giving me the confidence to follow up on this :)

You are all angels and I wish you all the best for 2010 :) xxx

The very, very best of luck to you and yours for 2010 hunni, what a trooper you and your mum are for staying positive.............still think they could have gone for more than £20 but as you say, it's better than nothing and good to hear they are to allow you to register your card in future.

Have a happy new year when it comes :)
