Hi all
Not sure if im being petty here or if I have any rights to cancel the item cause im getting anoyed over such a small issue lol.
I brough a gimic cooking apron on ebay it cost £2.20 the postage was £3 I placed my bid and then emailed the seller saying that I actually live in the same village as they listed that the item was in and could i just walk round an collect the item if I won.
She replied im sorry Im selling the item for a friend who doesnt want anyone to come round her house. I excepted that and said can she confirm that at £3 the item was being sent recorded she replied that she could arrange for to be sent signed for. This was last week.
Today I got an email saying that they took the item and to send it recorded would cost another £1 and was I happy to pay this?????
I have replied you agreed to send it recorded before I paid for it, I explained that due to the weight of this item sent recorded by royal mail even if she brought a manilla envolope at the post office and posted it recorded it would cost £1.50,for both so to now insist I pay another £1 seems silly.
I know its just an extra £2.50 but its actually anoyed me (petty I know) more of a principle thing I think lol

Yes I think you are being unfair. If you want an enhanced service then you need to pay extra for it. The actual cost of recorded is 75p plus a small uplift on extra paypal fees so say 80p max.
The possibly excessive postage costs is an entirely different matter.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You should have checked the exact postage before you bought and btw, if someone says you can't pick up I will never buy from them, there is always a reason why you can't and I'm maybe too careful.
Why do you want an apron to go recorded anyway?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
I have had a few things from ebay that dont appear, only to be told they where posted?
I trust my postman so im sure he isnt runing around with all my ebay purchases LOL (his sack wouldnt be big enough lol)
I think for me its more the principle, when I sell something on ebay I charge pp based on what it costs to send not how much extra can I make, I know not everyone is like me lol0 -
As both a buyer and seller on ebay then you must appreciate that the benefits of recorded are purely for the seller, you as a buyer gain nothing from it?
If something fails to get to you then put in a paypal claim and get a refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Why do you want it sent recorded? Its the sellers responsibility to get the item to you. Recorded is for there protection not yours. If it doesn't arrive and they refuse a refund paypal will refund you
As Soolin said you are being unfair you are asking for an extra service so you need to pay for it. If you believed the original postage was excessive you should have either not bid on the item or you should pay it and show your displeasure with the DSRs0 -
again I agree your points but being sent recorded means more chance of me getting the item i wanted as it has to be signed for by me so no delivered to the wrong place left on a doorstep ect.0

Others don't do pick up because they don't like strangers around there house. Why would you automatically assume there is something wrong? Wierd0 -

RD is just normal mail with a signature it has a high signature failure rate so it has as much chance of being left on your doorstep as anything else. It could easily be delivered to the wrong place as anything else.
If you want a guaranteed service you need special delivery0 -
I find that very strange, I wouldn't let people pick up as technically you have to accept Paypal and for pickup this is a mind field so I don't do pick up
