Must admit though i live in the middle of nowhere so no one would want to pick up off me anyway0 -
ironically I live in the middle of no-where so if they live in my village they are about 5 mins walk from me at most yet an 8 mile drive to nearest post office LMFAO I can understand not wanting me at their home but I also offered to meet them at the school or shop. It doesnt bother me they dont want to do face to face, maybe they are woried I will snatch the apron and run off without paying my £2.20 lmfao0

Still confused as to why you don't think people are genuine because they don't allow pick up.
Must admit though i live in the middle of nowhere so no one would want to pick up off me anywayFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
I find that very strange, I wouldn't let people pick up as technically you have to accept Paypal and for pickup this is a mind field so I don't do pick up
Others don't do pick up because they don't like strangers around there house. Why would you automatically assume there is something wrong? Wierd
It is a bit bizarre if you live in a village to travel to a post office (which might be in the next town) for the item to be picked up and taken to a sorting office to be sorted to be taken back to the village it started out in?? I often hand deliver stuff that is very close as I don't like people coming to my house either.0 -
I do not allow collections either unless I can't be bothered to wrap something. Every time I've allowed someone to collect they either forget to turn up or end up early or late while I've sat here like a Dodo waiting for them to arrive.
I sold some vintage train items once and buyer came to collect as he said he wanted to wrap them himself as they were delicate. fair enough, he bought cash and when I took him to the dining room where i had laid the stuff out as he had asked he actually went through my glass display cases to see what else I had, and was making offers on it all.
I am a very forceful person and tried to firmly close the cabinets and get him back to wrapping his trains, but it was quite frightening. he was picking things up and saying, oh loook, the chassis is wrong on this but i'll give you £25..and he'd slam more cash down on the table as if I'd already agreed.
It was an awful experience.
Another time I sold some stage clothes to a singer and she bought bouncers with her who also came in without permission even though I had the stuff bundled ready for her by the front door.
Obviously in some peoples eyes not being willing to be dictated to by my buyers makes me a crook, but frankly I don't care. If something is to be posted that's what I mean, I don't mean oh, maybe I'll wait in for a few days in case you remember to pop by and collect your items.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ohhh, I won't allow pick up either.
I have 2 gihugenormous dogs, and although they wouldn't hurt a fly people are scared of them and they go loopytastic at strange people at the house.
Plus, I don't want to hang around all day waiting for strangers, especially if it's just me here, when I can post during my schedule.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
I suppsoe as well that I am loooking at this form the viewpoint of someone who goes out to work as well as selling online. Maybe it would be different if you are a stay at home sort of person, or just someone who dabbled a bit with ebay.
I run a professional ship here, my stuff is packed, addressed and walked to the PO once a day without fail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I don't allow pick-up. I am a woman living alone in a rough area and don't want strangers coming to my door. I have allowed people to pick up items in the past and it has been a problem more often than not. One guy turned up drunk and I was hugely intimidated as he kept falling into my flat. Another one smelt so badly I had to open all the windows and spray my flat with perfume! I also had had problems with people having very limited times in which they could pick up the item. One guy said he could only pick it up at 5.15pm on weekdays (he didn't tell me this before he bid)!0 -

Please tell me this was someone of huge fame and not just the local pub singer with body guards?!?!?! :rotfl:0 -
Oh god no- collection only when absolutely nessecary!
If nothing else then because we sleep at the strangest of hours, and having to stay up for someone who might or might not turn up just to save them £1.70..... no.
We are though, completely genuine lol- top rated powerseller with 100% feedback- doesn't come by diddling your buyers out of postage or not having items available. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0
