hi with regard to ss the world cup is every four years so it not a once in a lifetime thing he could save up buget for it and go in four years time with out puting more on credit
the benfit and bankrupcty thing you cant blame people for doing it if the goverment allows you to do it why sit ans struggle to pay your debts off when you can get them wipped out you can see why people do it also some poeple have no chioce but to do it they shouldnt get a hard time for doing it they have proberly beat them selfs up enough about it

why go and work if benifits offer a comfy life i know this as i have freinds on benfit the husband cant work because of a back problem and she wont work as she can get benifits and they have a better lifestyle then us and my oh works hard at a building site but i dont blame them for living on benfits i mean she could work but why should she if she didnt have to it

the goverment are the ones to blame they should make her but they dont if i could get on benifits i would it be great rent ct paid for a couple of hundred a week for food and bills free meds denist free milk free school dinner grants for things spend allday with oh who wouldnt want a life like that

i think i may of been a bit rash with my two faced coment marberrie got it spot on i thought this was a site for people who was 100 per cent wanted to pay there debts of live as cheeply as pos then have the nicer things in life when they have no debt i now see that it is a site to help people get to that stage and help get them started on that road rather than allready beening on it so sorry for that comment i can understand the sky thing now
but still think there was no need for the harsh coments about the night out but can understand why it was said thankyou for all your replys but as we have no debt dose that mean we shouldnt be on here

    No way, Mrs D

Everyone I think should see what we are doing, to relaise, this is what you have to do to get out of debt. Its not easy, and its certainly not always fun :)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

This country is great if you are very very rich...or very very poor.

my father is moving to South Africa this year and he says if you live there...if you don't work, you don't eat
Was debt free... then went travelling!

I joined this forum earlier in the year and did in a very early posting put something that was taken as harsh and was slated for it. I deserved it! The trouble is sometimes you read a post, then attach your personal opinion to it, reply then think about it afterwards.
I have read the thread about the £75 meal and the response was harsh but the op on that one was trying to cheer up there oh. The responses following that were constructive cook at home ,get a movie in etc. People were giving the op a virtual kick up the bum by being harsh.
SS is fighting his socks off to get out of debt a once in a life time chance is one not to be missed.
Go on ss cheer the team.

SS has been struggling for ages, sometimes a goal is handy for clearing debt, fair enough its not cheap but im sure it will help ss in the long run and motivate him further, so that yes he can afford it in 4 8 16 years time.
Not being funny but we have SS who is a regular poster and helped thousands, and yourself who has decided to use your partners name to basically have a go at people without cause, i know who im rooting for :S

That is the sort of attitude that is bringing our society down, its people like us who are determined to pay our way and improve our lives that may stop the decline.
People always have a choice, you can only loan a percentage of wages, or by staking debt against assets.
People should be able to treat themselves, but they should also take responsibility for their actions.

why go and work if benifits offer a comfy life i know this as i have freinds on benfit the husband cant work because of a back problem and she wont work as she can get benifits and they have a better lifestyle then us and my oh works hard at a building site but i dont blame them for living on benfits i mean she could work but why should she if she didnt have to it

Again another plague of this country, i know people who cheat, and i use the word cheat, because they are capable of working, and they take the easy way out
Then someone who has made themselves a millionaire through hard work is despised becuase of their success.
I have rarely been on JSA, twice alltogether, and despite working years and paying money into the system i got next to nothing to help me through.
The system is wrong, spongers should be stopped

the goverment are the ones to blame they should make her but they dont if i could get on benifits i would it be great rent ct paid for a couple of hundred a week for food and bills free meds denist free milk free school dinner grants for things spend allday with oh who wouldnt want a life like that

This government is useless, but individual people need to take responsibilty.
If she is capable of working why are you standing back and letting her get away with it.
Do something about it instead of complaining

i think i may of been a bit rash with my two faced coment

yes, i found it very offensive

marberrie got it spot on i thought this was a site for people who was 100 per cent wanted to pay there debts of live as cheeply as pos then have the nicer things in life when they have no debt i now see that it is a site to help people get to that stage and help get them started on that road rather than allready beening on it so sorry for that comment i can understand the sky thing now

We are not all nasty people who want to say you cant live, we just want people to accept that essentials and not using credit are a better way of life than wasting money on non essentials and building up debt

but still think there was no need for the harsh coments about the night out but can understand why it was said thankyou for all your replys but as we have no debt dose that mean we shouldnt be on here

One persons comment doesnt justify the attack you made on the majority
I hope you included me in the majority because i give people straight up advice and give them ways to deal with there problems
Sometimes the truth isnt nice, but living in a daydream is worse

I hope you stay on the forum and get some use and indeed contribute

This is a great society and tbh i didnt like the fact someone came on having a go without getting any facts and basing an argument on one post

He's been given a ticket to the semifinals + he might not have the opportunity in 4 years. If he takes this opportunity he'll do it in a way that costs as little as possible, whereas there are alternatives to a night out which would cost a lot less.

It's about making choices this is something you and your husband already recognise. He came here looking for ways to cut back so that he could afford family days out. You've done better than a lot of people on here, myself included. Pre-light bulb most wouldn't make a choice but continue to spend as they were and put the days out on a credit card without a second thought.

What people don't is people like urself judging people prematurely, if you actually bothered to look at SS you will have seen that he paid of a hell of alot of money and is dedicated to teh cause but when an opportunity arises he has to make the choice to have no life for 6 years or a pretty good existance for 7.

The thing about the £70 on the meal is that this was being done by a new person that hadn't even started the frugal way of living and had not got out of the HABIT of spending money!!!!

Basically, we're all just people. People fight, change their minds, speak without thinking, make rash judgements and can be cruel, BUT people are also wise, experienced, generous, clever, witty, kind and honest. Our diversity and disparity is our strength. If there was only one opinion and message on these boards, how could you ever be sure that the advice you were getting was any good? Because people argue and get stroppy, and defend their corner, we all get a more rounded understanding of the situation - which we can then pass on as advice to others. I'm not going to attack the OP but I do think your initial post was ill conceived - why not register under your own name so we can get to know each other? - you can always just not come back if we are too mean!!!!!

There's a difference between spending £75 on a night out and a possibly once in a lifetime opportunity to go to the World Cup.

Just a quick reply to that, I dont really see any difference, ok once in a lifetime blah blah blah, but its still a luxury and an unneccessary. We'd all love to be doing things other than paying off debts but we've got them and now it's time to pay that price as it were.

It still represents a significant amount that could be paid off to each person's debt situation.
