Hi Annie, was wondering how things are going, sounds like you had an awful weekend, ear infections are so painful, hope hes feeling better soon.
As for your family, I think I would be feeling the same as you, its such a shame they cant understand why you made the decision not to go, it wasnt taken lightly.
Are you still going to have a little celebration for your daughter so she doesnt feel too disappointed that shes missing out on a wedding? If so, hope you all enjoy it,

Hi Sue, Thank you for your message.
I have arranged with my dad that we will meet up half way between the 2 of us and he will take my 2 girls to the wedding. That way they don't get to miss out and we have a quiet weekend with only the baby to look after.

He's a lot better now thank you all for your thoughts and well wishes. He's started to climb up the furniture now so I know he's back to normal lol.

  • I had my son vaccinated when a baby for all everything even the mmr, but with the exception of the whooping cough as my brother had had fits after having the injection so they said the risk was too great for any of the children in the family. I agree with immunisation. My nephew had measles as a very young baby and he was poorly too the doctor said to keep the curtains closed and dim the light so the light didn't hurt his eyes. I hope your little on is up and about very soon and i can understand how worried you are feeling.

glad the little one is feeling better, poor babe!

i went to a wedding when my spud was one, he'd had his mmr. a child in the creche had measles and just cried and cried all day, his parents were enjoying the wedding etc. and barely visited him. the rest of us parents were cursing them for taking a poorly baby somewhere he didn't know, and then dumping him, all crossing our fingers that our babies wouldn't catch it.

  • Hi, wishing your little one a speedy recovery and you some sleep soon!!:A

My son had all his jabs at the time when the MMR whohar was at its worst - i had them done individually though, to ensure he would be protected. Turned out he had his first 2 (Measles and Mumps no problems) and was a week away from having the Rubella at about 18 months old, and he was only just being called to our doctors surgery for his bulk MMR jab - basically he had been protected for an extra 3 months before by having the singles, than he would have been by waiting for the NhS.

Additionally the private doctor who did the single jabs explained that children have to have a booster at school age as it is not guaranteed that all children have received the immunity from the original MMR (possibly because of overload to the system of all three at once). The little one's bodies have a better chance of building up antibodies to the disease, one at a time...they more than likely then will not need a booster later on. The only way you will find out 100% whether your child has immunity or not, is for them to have a blood test.

We shall be having our daughter protected individually also. Price does not come into it when their health is concerned.
