I think you're right nuttywoman. They obviously haven't worked on my 2.
Thanks for everyone nice thoughts:)0 -
Hope this helps. I was told if a child caught something after they'd been immunised for it, it meant that if they hadn't been immunised the disease would have been much worse.0

I hope you're little one is better soon
Both my boys have had theirs, couldn't risk it myself. One day I might be more organised...........

Thanks Dora. Yes the nurse said as he's had the jab he shouldn't be so bad with it.
Here's hoping.0 -
My son had his MMR and his booster, but still got mumps when he started university and was quite ill. Dread to think what he would have been like if he hadn't had MMR vac. Amazing how many people we know who have had mumps even though they had had MMR jab. Hope baby is soon better and you get some sleep.0

Hope your little one gets better soon Annie xx
This is a worry I have - that my 12 month old catches it, because it will be a few months before he is due his MMR, so he is open to the virus until then.
I had no qualms about getting DS1 his MMR - I think the media hyped up the situation and scared a lot of people, which is why we may now face an epidemic.:mad:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. i remember getting mumps when i was younger and was told by the doctor that if i had not had the MMR jab then it would have been much worse, so you can still get the illnesses but they should not be as bad as someone getting them withour having the MMR jabs. hope your baby is better soon and you dont have too many more sleepless nights0

Thank you everybody for all your kind words and well wishes. Well I did get a bit of sleep last night (thank goodness) and he is not screaming this morning, so things are looking up it would seem.
Does anyone know how long measles is infectious for? I have searched the net, and the consensus varies wildly from 4 days from when the rash appears to a week after the rash has GONE! I don't know which to believe.
My sister is getting married next weekend, and if he is still going to be infectious we won't be able to go (babies and lots of little people there). I'm thinking that we'll err on the side of caution anyway, and just not go, just in case, but I know my sister will be really upset - not least because I've got all the goodies for her hen night LOL. And its 200 miles away so I couldn't just drop the stuff round to her.
I couldn't live with myself if another little one caught measles from my ds and had it a lot worse than he has. I know of at least one other baby who's going to be there who will not have had his MMR yet.
Some advice please???0 -
hope he gets better soon..
its such a pity people have become so anti immunisation...these diseases had became so rare people forgot how dangerous they can be. I remember my cousin having measles and being so ill...the spots were absolutely everywhere.x x x0 -
I think you're better to err on the side of caution and just not go. I doubt you'll get a definitive answer on here if the information on the net varies so much. Thank you for being responsible enough to try to prevent the spread of measles.
I had mumps when I was nine, before the introduction of the MMR. I've got a strong immune system but I was completely miserable with this disease. It lasted two weeks, was very painful and I still suffer sharp pains in my salivary glands whenever I eat something sour tasting.0
