    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Good Afternoon everyone.
Had unexpected w/e away delivering family pressies, and staying over (the joys of retirement!). Managed to see both sisters and brother as well as he decided to bring his pressies up as well so the full exchange could be done! Not been so ahead with this for ages.
I have just three pressies to get now, for our German hosts, so should have time to find something nice rather than real last minute panic buying.
However, home again and feeling really low again. Can't understand why at all. Spent morning hugging my knees and brooding and was so pleased that DH returned from work early. Feel guilty as compared with many I have nothing to complain about.
Supper tonight will be based on the two forgotten pork chops I've just dug out of the freezer.
Hope all poorlie folk are feeling a bit brighter soon.
    Take care.
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!

    Afternoon all,

Lamewolf, I am so glad it all went well for you, well done you, Little dog is curled up next to me, and said to say hello to you :D

Have had a frantic morning, waited till 12 and still no call from the mortgage lady, so I phoned her, only to be told she has the day off today, i wouldn't mind but she promised to phone me today , so now its going to be another days wait. If we dont exchange contracts this week we will not be able to move till after Xmas, the whole chain is relying on this phone call

I have packed most of the kitchen stuff up, but now ran out of newspaper, my mum has some for me, so will go and collect that, I am still unsure if i should be packing at all, but I had to make a start on something, also taken all the photo frames off the walls, its really bare in here, I hope I dont have to unpack it all, if we are still here at xmas its going to be strange with nothing around us

Have done a small online shop to take us up to the 18th, and prepared the veg and potatoes for tonight, need to go and pop the chicken in.

I opened the fridge earlier to get the milk to make a cuppa, and spotted 1/2 a bottle of wine, :o I was very tempted :rotfl:but I thought sitting at home glugging wine in the middle of the day was a step too far

Thanks for all the good wishes, the saga will continue tomorrow

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I am very tempted with the wine perhaps tonight :D

The lentil soup recipe was a bit made up and a bit off the tinternet but basically :

One large onion, and two garlic cloves, chopped and sweated off.
add the juice and grated rind of one lemon.
a big handfull of red lentils. Cumin, cayenne, and tumeric to taste.
I then topped up to top of pan with veg stock, you could use a chicken one, but my dd is a veggie.

Bought to the boil and then simmered for 25 mins, I liquidised mine, but you dont have to, it was delish, enjoy xx

Home from Physio and shopping. Arm sore from the acupuncture, but that will pass. Went straight off to the post office and then to the outlet at Cheshire Oaks, then Costco, then back to Cheshire Oaks to retrieve my debit card. Fortunately I had enough cash on me at Costco, then to the other bit of Cheshire Oaks.

Got a few things struck off the list, dressing gown (big n fluffy as per dd's request), household goods from Costco and a very few food items (deli sort of stuff that will prevent me from having to cook too much! Cheese, BF ham, semi dried tomatoes in oil,) spot stuff on BOGOF for ds, bath stuff to use as handwash at Boots, 50 points on each, plus it was on BOGOF as well.

Scarves for me at Fat Face, managed to blag another 10% off one as there was a little pull in it, they were 3 for 2. Monsoon had a sort of cardi/jacket 70% off £65. She offered it to me for £15 instead of £19.50, but no returns, as there were some little snags. It's rough surfaced and I had already noticed a few. Should be fixable. New fleece for me as well and some crystal whisky glasses for dh's mate for his 50th.

Quite a good day really, still need some more clothes though, trousers and some long sleeved tops.

It hasn't helped get the sewing going. At the moment am having a cuppa then will browse here and think about sewing! Meal only needs warming up tonight so easy peasy.

    Onward!

  • Hi all
Didn't get chance to post this morning as it was 1st day of hubby's new job so dropped him off & then went straight to work. Not sure what time he finishes, still waiting to find out.
Fish pie is in the oven heating through, DW & WM both on, washing drying on the rads.
    PP hope everything went well.
    Have a good evening.
    Hugs Hester

    Update on today:

Bread rolls have been made, as has quiche, so we'll have some of that for tonight's dins.

Pastry for cheese straws has been made up but not rolled out, I've put it in the fridge and will finish off tomorrow; I confess I cheat and do pastry in the food processor, and I thought that'd save getting it out again tomorrow (it lives in the kitchen cupboard, as we're strapped for worktop space.)

Carrot'n'orange cake will be made tomorrow also, although I'll probably sit and grate the carrots this evening, as it takes me ages.

Four Yule card designs have been completed, and one of each printed out for Mr LW's approval - if he likes them, I'll print out more of each til we have enough for our list.

Not a bad day's work, I think, all things considered.;)

Hester I hope your DH has got on well at his new job; I remember well when Mr LW started his current job, four years ago!:o
