Morning everyone.
Not the most restful sleep again. Wasn't until last night that DS temp started to settle so he's slept with me in our bed again last night. Although he hasn't got a temp he's been coughing up a lung and just generally been restless so I have bags on the bags under my eyes :rotfl: He still hasn't eaten anything apart from a tiny amount of chocolate, bite of one cheese scone and some fruit smoothies. Oh and he's been drinking coke as it was the few things we could get him to drinkHope he gets some appetite soon, we're going into the 3rd day of not eating anything. Its also the nursery trip to a farm today which he will miss
Its paid for and we won't get the money back but he's not well enough to go so another house bound day for us.
I have to add DD's name to a Christmas stocking that I bought last year. I did this with DS (with felt and sequins - sorry no stitching for me :rotfl:) and I never got around to it for DD last year. I must make the effort to get it finished so I can hang her stocking on the mantlepiece.
anyway back to the subject of OS. H did all the ironing last night (bless him there was LOADS). I have some cleaning to do and I'd like to do some more baking if I get the chance. So not very interesting I am afraid.
Listed about 19 items for sale on Ebay last night (good lord that was tedious ) as it was free listing weekend. Not done that before so crossing my fingers that some of it sells. Not expecting much for any of it but would be nice to have some extra cash from a few unwanted things.
Not sure I quite like the idea of blackjack vodka. The skittles one sounded bad enough!
In my advent calendar today it was Bells
Diva - Glad Tris is coughing and breathing to you :rotfl:
Sistercas - hope you and DD recover from your colds soon xx
Pen-pin - Good luck with the mammogram today xxx
Halight - glad the twins are enjoying the lights!
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all,
Apologies for being AWOL for the last few days - I am snowed under and there isn't even any snow.
On top of everything - OH announced yesterday his friend from Germany will arrive tomorrow for a week. Great. Tomorrow there is his works Christmas dinner, another friend is handing in his thesis and I have a report due. Which I haven't started. On top of that, I have five outstanding folksy orders sitting on my desk and one custom comission I haven't quite finished (just need to add sprinkles though!) luckily they don't have to be posted until tomorrow though and that's do'able - I wasn't expecting this to work quite as well as it has done; I'm grateful for it, but it is a lot of work. Today I have a bunch of stuff to do this morning as our departmental administrator is away, a meeting at 2pm - 4pm in which I have to speak, another viva party to attend at about 5pm (and I have to put all the food out before then). There is another viva defense tomorrow (but an MSc one rather than a PhD) and I'm setting out the party for that tomorrow too. I hate thesis season :rotfl:
I would say OH can cook, but that probably isn't a good plan. He made beef stroganoff yesterday - which he finished cooking at 12.20 am. Bless.
I need to do a tesco order online PDQ so we can feed Oli when he shows up. I made him eat vegtables last time he was here - as he doesn't normally. He didn't notice them thoughHe's doesn't understand I hate ketchup either - hence we don't have it in the house.
I made mince pies yesterday - they leaked a bit so don't look pretty but they taste really nice. OH and I also did the Christmas greenery arrangements yesterday too, which is good - I often feel I miss the Christmas vibe as I am normally too rushed to notice what it going on - we don't decorate fully as we are never there, but we do have advent candles.
Saturday's party was fun - although I was making a dress out of a bed sheet three hours beforehand - people thought I'd hired the costume though which was a compliment. The theme was "something starting with D" I went as Dorothy from the wizard of OZ, OH went as a dinner table, and we also had a devil, a dragon-pig (this is a lab in-joke that happened when trying to explain what a gargoyle was to one of our students), our head of department (whose surname starts with D), a daffodil, a dementor, a deadly ninja, a donkey, Craig David and a Dionex HPLC machine as well as few others. I wasn't pleased with my cake as I thought it was greasy, but by the time it got to midnight everyone had had too much beer to mind that much
Pen-pin - good luck for today ((hug))
Diva - glad Tris is up even if his is spluttering a bit
have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Goood Morning. I'm here a bit sooner today. DH goes very early on a MOnday ready for his week away. I never seem to settle back down again when he does this. I have Physio-Terrorist again this morning, so hoping he will continue the acupuncture treatment as it seemed to do some good. That is the good news, the bad news is that my right arm seems to be going the same way.
I have almost finished the seat covers, just got to join the tops to the bottoms, but that is a two person job. The way my arms are at the moment I think I would be wise to ask for help to put the cushion pads in as well. Going to put the 'winter' curtains up later this week, clean the windows before they go up. Got some 'icicle' lights for the big triangular window at the top as well, so that should look festive when done.
Got cushions to make covers for now. Hoping to do that today. Did animal print ones when I did lightweight curtains in the summer. These should be a bit easier as I have continuous zip for a start.
Need to do a big clear up today, as when the sewing started everything else seemed to get left. Done no laundry since last weekend. DH was scrabbling round for undies and so on last night to pack for his week away. Must buy a few more sets.
Got fish pie out of the freezer for ds and I for tonight. Think we will have eggs tomorrow and pasta bake from Freezer on Wed. Well maybe.
Bought some bits yesterday, fruit etc. Need to update signature to reflect.
Hope you all have a good day.
the 'more'. DS has fancy dress theme of cowboys and indians (or should that be Native Americans?) next week. We have a hat, he has jeans and check shirt. 'won' some cowboy boots on ebay that dh will collect in Hull. Trying to find a cap gun and caps, holster, spurs and whatever else is needed. Such a bind. If only I could only find them all from one supplier. It's on the 15th, so bit of a rush job."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Good morning all,
MSD - glad to hear you got a chance to speak to Tris
PenPin - good luck for today
Bitsy - hope your DS feels better soon
Very poor sleep last night. Not sure what is going on in our house but there is definitely something amiss with the heating. I don't like to say anything because it's not my house, but on Friday night before I went out to ballet, DH and I were so cold in our room (whilst the heating was on - rad switched to max) that we had to sit under a blanket with a few layers of clothes on and then last night, the rad suddenly decided to work, meaning it was so hot in there I could hardly breathe let alone sleep.
Went shopping with DH on Sat and got a couple more Christmas pressies, and bless him, he managed to find me the perfect frock for my work do on Friday! He's a bit of a Gok when it comes to finding clothes to suit me is my DH, if I didn't know better I'd swear he didn't like girlies :rotfl: Anyway, got this frock from Next reduced from £30 to £27.50 because it had the tiniest pull in the hem! Have now fixed it and it looks as good as new :T
OS today - change bedclothes, put whites and lights load on when I get home; I also need to start thinking about my meal planning from now until Christmas as 1) I don't want to be in Tescos at all in the week running up to Christmas and 2) Mum is going to need the freezer and cupboard space for the mountain of Christmas food she invariably cooks. Lunch today is cheese and pickle sandwiches and tea tonight will be bubble with fried eggs.
Have a lovely day OS or otherwise, hugs to all in need/want xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,

hope you all have a great day x back laterDo what you love :happyhear0 -
I'm not sure where the days are going to! I'm sure its really still November. I went for a Christmas shopping trip to Newcastle on Friday and managed to get DS2 a present and I got a magnetic advent nativity calendar from Lakeland reduced from £9.99 to £2.49 so the boys are pleased. I hadn't managed to find a nice one here so they hadn't got one ( and were apparently the only children in school who hadn't got one).
I finally managed to get DS1 a pair of shoes that fit him on Saturday, and we picked up a pair of walking boots to replace the pair that were faulty. SO in the afternoon we went out for a walk and got them nice and muddy!
Yesterday I had to take DS2 to a birthday party, and in the afternoon we made decorations out of air drying clay and some cookie cutters. We ended up with clay everywhere! I would have liked to have gone to the Durham Xmas fair but the weather was lousy and its no fun in the rain with 2 small boys when it's that busy!
DS1 also saw part of the Christmas Delia programme and has decided that he wants to make a Christmas pudding. I always used to make my own but had a year off last year. I'm going food shopping in a minute, and will pick up the ingredients at teh same time. I'm also going to try and find a new Christmas tree as ours is ancient and a bit decrepit!
Hugs to all that need them0 -
Hi All,
Returning to OS with my tail between my legs after starting a new job and being very lazy and letting the house get into a proper state!! (clutter clutter and more clutter!)
Job is at home, but really odd hours, So normally I'll finish about 3am, and then drift off about 4ish, then up for school run etc and home for a nap, before picking DD2 up from nursery at 11, and running about like a loon after her!!
Am determined to join the flylady thread now I'm finally ontop of things, between refurbing the house and kids and bits, this is the first time all rooms have been done and tidy at the same time since we moved in (3 long long years!!)
Spent an entire week getting everything spotless and ready for xmas, bullied OH into finishing those little jobs he manages to put off! (Even nagged him into building a desk in an alcove in dd's room then dd1 has some quiet homework space!)
Bought a great chest freezer from ebay about a month ago, so going to have a batch cooking day and a baking day this week and fill it up (Its full of woopsied bits at the min as OH has been doing the shopping!)
Hopefully everything will get much easier now I'm organised!!
Realised it was bad when getting ready in the morning involved yelling and screaming, from me as nothing could be found!!
Have missed my OS ways more than I could imagine!!, poor kids have been living off quick dinners off eggs, pasta or the really naught few days of OH nipping off to the chippy while I crammed in some sleep!
House now full of good things as we managed to get to the farm shop and stock up, so now i just need to get busy!
So big Hi to all, hope everyone is doing ok? Will try to read through some of the old threads to see what I've missed when I get some time!
Good luck Penpin for today xxxx
Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone0 -

Morning all :hello:
Welcome back Nomoneymummy. x
Your party sounds great Celyn.
Thanks for today's carol Tru. My friends don't get my need for goats either.
Hope you get good news today Pooby.
Have to agree with Penny about the pork. Shoulder is my favourite cut when slow roasted.
Christmas sounds "interesting" in your house Stefe. xx
Your bunting is lovely Dazi!!
Dad and Stepmum have gone home and as usual I am missing them already.
We always have great fun when they're here but it does make them seem so far away when they leave again. Still, it was a fabulous weekend enjoyed by all.
The house is looking very festive but I have a bit of tidying to do upstairs. We collected loads of pine cones and foliage from the woods yesterday so I want to make some swags for the stairs today. OH brought a beautiful tree from the hillside yesterday which is in the kitchen and is cheering me up.If only the cat would stop swinging from the lower branches.
Tea is mince and tatties which I'll make in a minute and once the tidying is done I can hopefully get on with my knitting.
Ooooh... School just phoned to say we won the hamper in the raffle at the school fair. :j:j:j Between that and the hamper my folks brought we have loads of goodies for Christmas. :T
Take care
Haribo x0
