I wouldnt really call it chavvy but it is certainly a complete waste of money!
Is it? I bought my first in the early 90's and sold it recently for 5x the purchase price. OK so there were several £80 transfer fees along the way but it certainly didn't waste any of my money.

If you look at my username you'll realise that to include my initials my current plate has to be a (not overly cheap) NI plate which I purchase about 10yrs ago - valuations from several dealers, even if somewhat optimistic, again suggest that if I were to sell I'd come out a bit ahead.

The original allocated Reg of my current car would have been something like MJ09ZXJ - which is more than a band hand at scrabble! Whether they're chavvy or not is all a matter of opinion and personally I don't give a !!!!!! what anyone else thinks.

The real plus point for them is they're a major wind-up for car salesmen who want your business but know they're probably going to waste an hour or few at the LVLO arranging the transfer - if you can get them to include the transfer in the price that is a ++! :rotfl::rotfl:

My ex's entire family had them - now I cringe when I see them!! He had a powerful car AND a private plate - very tasteful.... NOT!

If involves your name then I'd say no, from a personal security point of view - someone shouting ' Amanda' at you as you are in a busy shopping area can use it to set you off guard, as you'd think they knew you.;) All they had to do was follow you from the car park.

Might seem far fetched, but I'd not want anyone using it to get the A3 keys off me if I had one.;) you work with the police, so will know tricksters would happily use anything they can to get people off guard.

Don't think TVV4T will be available, for the same reasons that PEN15 was withdrawn (pardon any pun)

    hahahhahah
  • It doesn't seem to matter what the order of numbers and letters are, they all look like they say W**KER to me!

I think personalized number plates can look good in some circumstances. Who cares what everyone else thinks? It's your car!

Which probably says more about you than the person with the plates! ;):D

I once saw a car parked at Brands Hatch and its number was PEN 1S. Which just about summed up the driver as far as I was concerned.
I was picking up my car from the garage the other day and I heard the receptionist telling someone on the phone to come in and bring some unaltered number plates with them. They said they would not issue an MOT until there were legal plates on the car. Some people seem to think that the rules do not apply to them.

I thought that one was never to see the light of day ,DVLA stated ages ago
Wonder if it was just a dodgy plate though

I have one but had to pay a lot as my initials are P.A.T. ,the first 2 letters are my wife initials then 2 numbers then the last 3 are PAT
Going to see about a 58 PAT for my Ninja as well
    Have a nice day :)
