Whats the best 'crap' car you've had?

My love/hate car was a Morris 1800s, the land crab as they used to be known, like an extended mini.
Something wore out or broke on the front suspension an almost a weekly basis, it did more miles on a gallon of fuel than it did on a gallon of oil
,
The engine blew and was replaced eventually, it was a 4 cylinder but when I took the head of I found 3 pistons at tdc:rotfl:,the top had sheared completely of one.
But I loved it, so smooth and quiet, quickish due to twin SU's, a real mile eater:T:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
An old Citroen DS 19. Flopped the bump stops on many occasion in a pool of fluid. Wished is still had it. Unseen Renault 4s and 2CVs where the chassis folded with rust. Still have a old mini so i can still relive the days!0

use an old 1990 sierra for work at the moment, had it nearly 2 years now.
72000 original miles, all old mot's,3 previous owners, never let me down in any weather and not a spot of rust.love it.0 -
I bought a Renault 5 for 75 quid that came with it's own 'Air conditioning' in the form of a hole in the floor!
The tyres use to rub on the bodywork when you went round corners and the ride was like being on the open sea! :-)0 -
I used to work on the theory that if something was making a noise, then at least it meant it was still attached to the car. The time to worry was when the noise stopped, as it meant that the part had fallen off!!0

Mine would have been the 2.0 MG Maestro back in 94 ish
It used to go like hell ,the front end used to lift up when you booted it but everything else about the car was crapHave a nice day

We bought a bright orange Lada from a neighbour for £200 in 1985. Ran fine for 2 years, took us all over, easy to spot in a car park! And who would want to steal it? My OH used to use the starter handle for fun - and when he needed to change a fuse he had to decipher a wiring diagram in Russian.
Traded it in for a Fiat Regatta that used to die after an hour's driving - no-one knew why and it has turned me off Fiat for life!0 -
We used to have an old brown Citroen AX called Suzie - nothing electric worked on it - had to hotwire it to start it, used mobile phone to light up instrument panel at night, fuel guage only showed if tank was over half full, headlights used to switch themselves off, the only way to fix them was to turn off the lights for a few seconds then switch them back on again... fun on the M25.
Nonetheless we loved it - very roomy as if something wouldn't fit in the boot you just pushed it through the rusty floor, seat material had long gone so you sat on disintegrating foam. Nevertheless the engine was great even after 130k miles and never let me down.
It was eventually stolen by the world's least ambitious car thief who got in because locks didn't work. They crashed it about 200 yards away at the first junction as the brakes required a certain knack and wrote it off... but such is the joy of these cars, no need to claim on insurance as the car is worth nothing and you can get a replacement for peanuts so you never need to worry about expensive garage bills or losing NCBs

I remember my second car which was a 1988 Ford Orion. It was pretty crap but it did have Intermittent Wipe and 5 gears which I though was pretty good at the time. Also, the performance wasn't too bad considering the tiny 1.4L engine it had. Its just a pity it rusted so badly - some of the panels were made entirely out of P38 by the time I sold it.0
