  • Good morning everyone

DD and I are off shopping and meeting Gingham Ribbon for lunch :j I've not seen her for ages, so really looking forward to it :T

I collected our pig yesterday, so DH and I spent yesterday evening weighing, bagging, labelling and freezing the joints and offal. We sampled the sausages, which were delicious  I bought a bag of cranberries, so we're going to make some pork and cranberry sausages tomorrow  In fact, I might try and invent a pork liver and cranberry pate for our Christmas Eve party

It's DH's work party tonight (at the KC Stadium, home to Hull Tigers). The children are off camping for the weekend, so no cooking for me!

Off to make a pot of tea, to wake the children :coffee:

Have a fabulous Old Style Day, everyone

    Hi Folks,
Ive woken up really tired this morning too so have much sympathy for those who are feeling weary this morning. I have so much going on and it keeps me awake worrying and going through every worst case scenario. Any tips for getting to sleep ( apart from a bath cos I cant get in and out at the moment!). When I got to sleep DS1 woke me up coming in at 4 am. Its just not on is it? I despair of him!

I ran DD to bus at 6.50 and it was 2 degrees and very frosty. DD3 had just taken dogs out for a walk. OS - im fairly well organised as cleaner came yesterday and I did some washing but towels need to go on. Im not sure what is for tea.

    I will pop back later,
    Love Mollyx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all

Bacon sandwiches all round this morning. Just the thing for a frosty start.

One's gone to school, one's about to leave and the other isn't up yet.

They've got hm rolls with cheese or ham in today, chocolate muffins and fruit. I'm having some defrosted chicken-barley soup which I'm really looking forward to.

Supper tonight will be...wait for it... fish fingers!! and hm oven chips with peas and sweetcorn. Haven't had a fishfinger for years and those Birdeye ones don't have any weird ingredients.

This afternoon I'm going to make a beef stew for OH to reheat tomorrow evening so that there is a meal ready when me and dd get back from Brum where we are going to see The Nutcracker with my dad:j

I'd better bake something for the cake tin too or there'll be trouble.

OK, this is completely non OS but I'd appreciate hearing about people's experiences of Flickr! I've just signed up as I have ordered myself a camera as a late birthday present to me. I've been wanting to get a bit creative in the photography dept for a while and I was so sick of reaching for our camera and finding someone had nicked the batteries  I want my own camera for me only. I've chosen one in a girlie pale blue so nobody else will use it :p I'm going to be taking pics of my cooking, my crochet, flowers and my surroundings. What I'd really love to do is make mosaics like Lucy does. Anyone know how to do that or is it something you can only do if you have a blog?

Also non-OS, but can I ask which camera you bought  The screen on mine has packed in and I'd like a new one :D

As far as I know, you can post pics on Flikr and then link them into your posts on here, or let people have your details, and they can see them all ;)

I use Photobucket, and have one set of Public Pics, which can be seen on here, and a set of Private pics that only my friends can see :D

Thanks Penny, yes I'd like to be able to link to my pics. I've dabbled with photobucket but found it hard to upload my photos. Flickr! seems a real doddle.

The camera I've ordered is a Canon Nixus 95.It comes in other colours too.

    Morning peeps

freezing cold and frosty here today brrrrrrr! i shall be off out with the houndies shortly so i need to wrap up really well.

DH is still in bed - surprise surprise  i need to wake him before i go out as the cooker is being delivered today, anytime between 7am and 7pm so i hope that it arrives early. The rest of the day will be spent preparing the final wall for the plasterer and then moving things around upstairs as the joiner is coming later to [STRIKE]make a huge mess [/STRIKE] remove some door frames and doors ready to fit the new ones tomorrow.

Tru - Our kitchen sounds the same as yours atm, no radiator and big gaps around the door and window :o the bare walls are freezing cold and i`m fed up with looking at bricks and joists. Hopefully once the new window is in place and the new ceiling has been fixed it will seem a lot warmer.

I`ve just been back and read the last of yesterdays thread and had a good laugh Haribo i had a mental image of you up that tree and tears rolling down my face laughing :D thanks for sharing - i needed a good laugh.
We used to have one of those doggies with a taste for anything nasty too, we also had one of those huge cat litter trays which is enclosed like an igloo type of thingy, that never stopped him either, he just kept getting his head stuck :o a big dog with one of those stuck over his head can cause a lot of trouble

Right i need to make a move and pack as much as i can into my day.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning all!

Cold and frosty here today, Christmas pud in the advent calendars!

Oven gave up the ghost last night, been on its final legs for ages, but now turns itself off even if you do manage to get it to turn on! Found one in Currys that is available for collection - one I liked online was a 42 day delivery, not a lot of use to me! So will be off to pick it up later, ex is coming round tonight to wire it in for me - on the bright side I don't have to explain to him why I don't want to go oven shopping on Saturday with him (didn't even do that sort of thing when I was married, certainly not starting it now, and not with an ex!). So tonight I may be able to cook up some delights, though will probably wait until tomorrow lol! Thank heavens for remoskas, microwaves with grills and deep fat fryers is all I can say, last night's dinner would've been a disaster otherwise - had got half way through cooking it when the oven died! And since I'd changed the plan from wraps to roast chicken I would've been binning a lot of stuff!

I picked up the prospectus for VIth form for ds and he seems quite enthused at the moment, long may it last. Think he likes all the choices that it offers him, rather than just plain A levels, though I suspect he will actually end up just doing A levels, well fingers crossed that his GCSE's are okay!

Nothing much else to report really, will be doing a good OS clean today, dd3 made chocolate bugs (see fb for pics!) last night and the kitchen is a bit sticky lol! Lots of washing to catch up with, sometimes I swear it breeds!

Lunches: wraps with cheese, kidney beans, pepper and mayo and salad, apples, hm lemon drizzle cake (found in freezer!)

Lunches for dd1 (who is poorly, high temp and feeling generally off colour, thankfully not sick though) and me: soup (bought a ton of broccoli yesterday reduced to pennies, so will use up the stalks and freeze the rest!)

Dinner tonight will be hm sausages hopefully, if I get my bum in gear and make them lol! Apple and pork, and pork and chorizo I think today!

Have a good day all xx

ps Molly, I write things down if I feel stressed about them, it's almost as if once they're written on paper my brain feels it can stop remembering them as I can read all about it! Hope you have a better night tonight x

pps Diva - glad Tris is home and hope you get to speak to him soon x

  • Good morning all!
    I'm full of cold!
Its chilly but sunny here, though I'm still sat here in my PJs! DD has a school training day. First load is in the WM with 2 more loads to do. I want to have a quick clean and then put up more christmas decorations.
Also need to do some shopping and wrap and send ds present to Canada. Will make some twinks, with leftover mixture from the other day, to take to work tomorrow.
Tea is supposed to be chicken in tomato sauce but I need to get showered and dressed before I venture out to the freezer in the garage to retrieve the chicken. May just do tomatoey pasta instead as I can't taste much and it seems a waste of the chicken IYSWIM!
MSD I hope that perhaps they will be able to keep Tris pain free and comfortable. Thinking about you.

  • Morning Guys!

Slow start here for me. Nurse has been and gone. Everything has seized up, but meds just kicking in, so pain will ease up soon. Hospital this afternoon.

OH made bacon rolls for breakfast with Weight Watcher bacon he got last night reduced to 15p a packet. They were like medallions (sp), quite salty and not very tasty TBH. Usually £2.49:eek::eek::eek::eek:....he also got 4 x 2litres of organic milk for 15p each which we have frozen, 2 x bacon 15p, a crustless quiche to 15p, posh garlic ciabatta to 15p, rolls to 20p, best mince enough for spagbol for 3 to 39p and 3 x pies to 15p which have been frozen:j:j:j

Cleaner due this morning and she is helping me sort a couple of kitchen units too. WM is on. DW has been on too. Will get OH to hang washing out if weather stays dry. House tidy, just needs a thorough clean.

    Anyway, I need to go.

    Hugs to all.

    Morning all,

    Hope all are well,
Christmas QOTD: 'Christmas, ... is not a date. It is a state of mind.' ~ Mary Ellen Chase

MSD I could not agree more and if you don't mind I may pinch it for my signature... :D My friend and I have just decorated our entire office and put up the tree and it looks lovely. Everyone is now in a festive mood despite the initial moans of "Bah-humbug" from the boys  Why do they have to be so contrary?! I actually silenced one of the senior managers today from his moaning about tinsel in his area by saying, "You're mean Mr Grinch" at the top of my voice :rotfl: he was suitably ashamed of his Scroogey attitude :rotfl:

OS wise today I might have failed a bit :o DH and I were meant to have leftover meatballs for our lunches today, but they were so tasty we finished the lot last night! We've got sarnies instead, but you know what I mean. I've got some ironing to do tonight when I get in, but I've also got ballet so I doubt I'll have a great deal of time, and then after that DH is taking me out for a curry as he says he wants me all to himself for the evening! Bless I think he missed me last weekend as I was out for two nights (very rare occurance!)

Sorry for the overuse of smilies, just in an exceptionally good mood today :)

Have a lovely day, get well soon to the poorlies and huggles to all in need/want xx

Just ETA: Thanks Tru for the carol - love them :)
