OS Daily Thread - Friday 4th December

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 4th December. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS chums,
Christmas QOTD: 'Christmas, ... is not a date. It is a state of mind.' ~ Mary Ellen Chase
Mioliere - I used to knit when I was a child but even then, rather wonky scarves were all I managed.. I was never any good. But I have found a tutorial (thanks for the suggestion) that looks clear enough so maybe I will try again!
N9eav - Splurge... go on, be a devil, you know you want to!
Aussie - hope your husband isn't too bruised today
Redruby - Is this one suitable??
Morwenna - that candle sounds lovely, thank you so much, and I hope your daughter feels better today.
Dianna - Yes it is, and if I was able to travel I would have flown out there by now.
Leigh - hope you managed to get some more sleep
Bitsy - love your wooden advent calendar, sounds gorgeous
Been sorting through my Yankee candles and putting away the ones I have out now so when the Christmas boxes come down from the loft I can put out the Christmas ones. I have a special candle I light for Tris when I need to send energy out there.
Going to have gammon for dinner as for a change my OH doesn't have to work tonight. Will grate some cheese over a pineapple ring on top. Have tried doing more exotic things with them but this way is my OHs fave. Will make mini roast potatoes and we have some YS broccolli (one 'l' or two, I can never remember??) and carrots to have with it.
Lunch will be HM granary bread toasted with HM hummous and cucumber and tomato slices. I found a tin of chick peas in the larder that I had forgotten about so decided to use them.
I hope everyone has a good day today. To anyone feeling under the weather
- get well soon. With love, light and
for all.

Haribo - Thank you for the myriad of laughs you gave me yesterday and I am SO glad I don't own a dog now. I did giggle over the thought of your new hobby - Chicken balancing! (take one broom....:rotfl:)
Tristan has been doing a lot of sleeping apparently which is good I guess as it will give his body time to heal. They have transferred him home with a nurse. Thank you all for your continued thoughts, prayers and positive vibes, I know they help.

I hope everyone has a good day today. To anyone feeling under the weather

Morning
In my advent calendar - a Christmas pud :snow_grin
Really frosty today. The kitchen's freezing, I've got 2 of the gas rings on to warm me up. There's no radiator in here at the mo, and there's a draught coming from round the door and window. Brrrrrrrrrrr. I'll have to post pics to show you how beautiful it looks in here
I made a horrible swiss roll yesterday  The tin twisted in the oven so it was thin in some places and thick in others. I tried to cut layers off with a sharp knife to even it out but it didn't work, then the whole thing started cracking  I scraped the jam off and kept the sponge bits (it was in pieces by this time, lol) for trifleThe flapjacks and sponge were good though
We have to go to town, I might get mr tru to make something yummy for when we come home. He makes fab stew, much better than mineBulletproof0 -
Morning you lot.
MSD - good to hear that Tristan is at home.
Had an early night last night so up early this morning, my body works much better that way. Little chilly at the moment - waiting for the heating to come on.
Hope to be in and out of the office quickly this morning so I can get on with some housework. Think will attack the bathrooms today and wash all the bedding, have only a couple of bits of ironing left so that will def get done.
Need to clean my oven soon, it smells when you put it on, was going to treat myself to a proffessional clean after Xmas but think will have to something with it before then.
Am looking for a nice Xmas tablecloth, when I went to Lakeside the other day couldn't find one anywhere so will have a look online, also am toying with getting the insulated dishes from Ideal World - anyone got these?
Off to make another cup of tea - have a great Friday.x0 -

Morning everyone,
It's been one of those days today. I knew that DS1 was taking DGS to the movies this morning and DH was picking him up after work. He finished at noon today. Got a phone call from DS1 before 9am asking could I come over to the mainland to pick up DGS. The movie was on in the afternoon and he had to go to his old house he rented. It needed more cleaning before his bond was released. So by the time I got home with DGS the morning was nearly gone & I really got not much done that I had planned.
I did manage to make some biscuits this arv & I have a quiche in the oven for tea tonight. I can't see any carpet upstairs, it's covered with a layer of leggo.DD is on her way here atm and it's too hot to walk home. Would I pick her up? DH didn't have the best nights and he's still pretty sore. He's laying down now resting. He'll probably bleed this for as long as he can.
Been a really hot day and I'll have to go downstairs shortly and water. The bird bath is empty I noticed too. Hope you all have a lovely day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Take care all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all
I was hoping to wake up refreshed this morning.....didn't happen - I always feel worse the day after the one a lost the sleep on.
I have a really busy weekend - I've about 16 MS jobs between now and Monday and im just thinking of the extra pennies and the looming car tax!
I might try and post back later

Morning all :rudolf:
We put the tree up yesterday so it's all looking very festive here in the Sunny house now. The dogs had a wonderful time trying to eat tinsel & baubles and the Beagle had tinsel wrapped round him by the children who kept saying 'Christmas Maxy' and laughing like drains at their humour
Was very OS with the door wreath which was looking very tattered. I took all the original stuff off it just leaving greenery and used fuse wire & picture hanging wire that we found at MIL's to put new things on :money: some baubles, stars, fresh holly from the garden and I raided my craft box for some chistmassy ribbons too. It looks better than it did when new & didn't cost a penny :T
Todays meals are leftover pasta bake for lunch & meatballs & spaghetti for dinner - lots of pasta todayI also need to do some ironing and post the christmas cards that I wrote yesterday so that's another job done.
I'm going into town to get some cat food and a few other bits & bats. Not much as I'm keepng a close eye on the budgets since DH lost his job. Nothing going I'm afraid. He's applied to lots of local places that take on Christmas staff but nothing doing. I'm trying to keep his spirits up but it's hard sometimes.
With hugs to all who need one & have a good day.
Diva So pleased that Tris is home xx
jc2703 I always feel rotten for 2 days after missing a night's sleep  Hope you feel better later & find the energy to get through your list :T
See everyone later xx0 -
Morning all,
Very frosty here, will have to scrape the car off, both dd and I have woken with sore throats, and headaches  typical whan I have so much to do.
Off to work today, which is really busy as well, so much to do. Aussie hope Aussielad feels betters soon, and doesn't milk it for too long
DD is supposed to be cooking tonight, quorn risotto, but we will have to see how she feels, she is going to school, but will ring me if needs be.
The tales of all the dogs made me laugh yesterday, especially the choc raisins that the deer leave :rotfl:
DD did a wash last night and its on the airer, so may get her to do another tonight. Also need to hoover through.
Ok need more tea, have fun all xx0
