Thanks again all. I'm discharged so would hopefully get online banking with barclays BUT I've read it's a Visa Connect card (can someone confirm this please?) and m&s doesn't accept that either!! Very frustrating, but then I guess it's a small price to pay for being debt-free and being able to sleep again at night.

So sad angel, I think we might look into the prepay card idea. Would you mind sharing which one you have?

    Thanks again all!

Barclays is a FULL Visa debit card.

It does say "connect" on it, but that is just Barclays generic name for a debit card. All their debit cards have always said connect on them, whatever payment system they go through.

Thanks fermi. In a recent email about this from m&s they said 'We don't accept Visa Electron, Solo or Connect online as we can't verify the cardholder's age whereas the store can'. Is this Connect they mention different from the barclays one? I'll definitely apply if I'll be able to use it!

    Thanks again!

Age verification online may be a different issue.

Not used mine online with M&S, but I have with John Lewis, Tesco etc. They all sell age restricted products........

My card is listed here with all the other full ones, rather than the Electron.

    4658 30-79 range.

For the little that may mean....

I suppose the only way to be sure is to ask M&S.

They are notorious for being unreasonable over what they will or won't accept.

Thanks fermi. I think we might still apply to barclays anyway, but also look into a prepay card fir the likes of m&s. I really want to be able to use it with them as they have some good bargains online sometimes which aren't available instore and we also get employee discount, so huge Xmas bargains being missed at the mo! Not good haha! X

Well, I've just emailed M&S asking about cards with that bin number, so we shall see.

From what I have seen, post BR the Barclays account seems to be a better deal than the Co-op anyway. I'm sure some may disagree though.

The coop card is a Visa Debit card, it is up to the individual companies to up date their bin databases and for some reason some have not done this. If you look in the UK VISA DR CARD column, you will see the prefix 450875 approx 23 from the top of the list. This number is no longer in the Electron column. I just wish these companies would piull their fingers out and sort it out.
