*HEAVY SIGH*.
He might have pushed the price up by, say, one increment with his bid, but he was immediately 'outbid', ie. Ebay would have beaten his increment, because the other bidder must have previously input £400 or higher.
*HEAVIER SIGH*
He would have pushed it up by one increment, and then another, and then another until he was OUTFE.CKINBID at £400+one FE.CKINNCREMENT making the price £400+
Otherwise, he wouldn't have been OUTFE.CKING BID would he?

            Willa, your version is illogical;
There is a DVD I'm after with a starting price of 99p. You can buy the same DVD as a 'buy it now' for £16 - so no one is going to bid more than £16
You are saying that if I bid £20 now as an opening bid, I will definately win the DVD for 99p?
It's not illogical!
The other week I was bidding on something that cost 50p. I accidently input £50 and tried to cancel this but because had passed the timeline you can do this before end of auction was ****ing myself in case I had to pay some stupid price.
I won the thing for 50p because no-one else bid on it. And even if they had, I might have ended up paying a fiver or something if I was the final bidder.

Have you had a lot of experience of bidding on Ebay? Read post 83!"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

He put his bid in 10 seconds before the end of the fluckin auction! Do you think Ebay was going to speedbid through the increments all the way up from £255 or whatever it was at to £400 in 10 seconds? What is it with you people??!

Oh holy fluck. I give up!
I see you have failed to understand the basics of ebay.
Taken from their basic user guide:
Place A Bid:
Decide on the maximum you would pay for the item and enter it into the bid box, eBay's proxy bidding system will bid on your behalf, only as much as is needed for you to remain the highest bidder. Make sure you put a figure you would be happy paying as once you have bid, you are entering into a contract with the seller. 0 -

I know that if I am the ONLY bidder I will win for 99p -
Please re-read my example and imagine that someone else places a bid of £10 - am I still going to win for 99p because my opening bid was £20?0 -
            This thread is hilarious :rotfl:

Ah, I now see what you believe.*HEAVY SIGH*.

You're still wrong though.
Okay:
Start price £1
I place a bid of £20
Price stays at £1
You place a bid of £9
Bid increments come into play and the price is now £9.50
You place another bid of £20.01
You win at £20.01This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.
