I still think we need real auction proof!!0

I have never seen one poster being so ignorant of how ebay works in my entire life0
-
And i would just like to say to the OP i'm glad you got your item in the end!!!0

LOL!
No matter what; the price will stay at one increment higher than the second highest max...as long as there is more than one bid.
It's simple logic.
Except for when the highest bid is less than the second highest plus increment"One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -

Aye....
If there is a penny in it, the highest bid wins...
In this instance; I can't see how the OP would have got an email saying they were outbid; if it didn't register.
But anyway......0 -

LMAO
Thanks MB.
This is the first posting I've seen on this thread that made me laugh out loud though.
I make my living selling on ebay. Willa's wrong, 'nuff said. The highest bid wins, and the winning price is determined by the value of the second highest bid.
If there's no second-highest bid, the winner gets the item at the start price, regardless of how high he told ebay he was prepared to go.Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
Should OF, would OF. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.0 -

THIS IS DOING MY HEAD IN!!!
An item is at 99p, i bid £2.50
10 secs before the end of the auction, someone bids £3,, they win for £2.55 or thereabouts, as ebay REALLY QUICKLY bids up and up and up till WHOEVER BID HIGHEST WON. They don't cancel my bid as the other person bid higher, or otherwise no one would pay any higher than the starting bid. Unless there were NO OTHER BIDDERS
It is like at a real aution, except whereas at an auction, THE BIDDER KNOWS THEIR MAXIMUM AND BIDS UP UNTIL THEY REACH THEIR MAXIMUM, on ebay THEY TELL EBAY THEIR MAXIMUM, SO EBAY BIDS UP TO THEIR MAXIMUM, FOR EVERY BIDDER.
I really don't know how to explain how bidding works, simply, but this thread is really annoying me!!! Can someone set up an auction, and tell someone else to bid etc etc, talk everyone right through it COS THIS IS ANNOYING ME!!
That is all!!
Er, yeah, I'm not disagreeing with any of that!
Why do you all think the OP got a 'you've been outbid' message and lost the auction then??
I'll suggest again, that everyone reads what the OP a c t u a l l y s a i d because that was surely the point of the thread."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
