I've just been bidding for an item on ebay. My price limit was £400 so with 10 secs to go I put this in only to be told I'd been outbid by another buyer. I didn't want to go any higher so left it at that.
When I checked back it said the item sold for £255!!!
I can't believe it, I use ebay all the time and this has never happened before.
I'm really, really annoyed by this and its not great for the seller either, what on earth could have happened?? I definately didn't bid too late, it just looked I'd been outbid.

when you put your last bid in, did you press the confirm button on the next page of do you only think that you pressed it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
No definately because the "you have been outbid" message came up, surely that would only happen if I put in the bid?0

Contact the seller and ebay and tell them you tried to bid higher (but don't tell them how much for obvious reasons!).0

Hmmm...I'm confused now, surely I should have still won with a £400 bid? Its way over what the item went for in the end.

Was there a bid retraction? My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Not that I know of, would that had made a difference?
I certainly didn't retract my bid.0 -
Hi Charlie, Same thing happened to me earlier this morning (although I went through Goofbay). I put a bid in and got it confirmed and then it sold for less than my maximum bid to someone else. I was confused too and also very very miffed.
So, join the club hun! Not reported it to Ebay yet as thought I was going mad, so thank you for putting my mind at rest that I've not quite lost the plot yet! :think:0 -
That's odd...I can see why you thought you were going mad as things are moving so fast at the end of an auction.
Maybe there was some kind of problem with eBay today??
I'm going to contact eBay (although I'm expecting a 'tough luck' answer). Will you report it too, Legacy? Its bad news for sellers really, they'e lost out on some extra cash today
Thanks for letting me know.0 -
yep, i'll drop them a line in a bit, but like you said I wouldn't hold my breath for any sort of explanation, let alone apology! Something very strange gone on though..
