Why? this isn't a glorified story to shock you, this was from a statement of a mother who's child was a victim, so smart smug comments don't work with me.

of course, we all think we would be able to spot one, because they are all dirty old men aren't they? they will befriend first, he could be that cute guy at that party last week, that mate of your brother, that lone dad who's child has recently started at your child's school... thats the whole point in grooming, he will do what ever it takes, even having sex with the woman and letting her think they have a fantastic relationship that looks perfect, in fact she will tell you it is perfect.

Won't someone please think of the children!:rolleyes:

How did we get from 'I want to take my childs picture in the nativty play', to mass hysteria over every male you'll ever meet??
If you bring your daughters up to fear all men, incl their father, how do you expect them to ever have a healthy relationship.

Funny you should mention this OP, we have had a letter home tonight from my sons school which states

" Please note that following further child protection guidance from the LEA, there is to be no videoing of school productions this year "

They are allowing us to take a photo of our own child back in the classroom though before they get out of costume xxxx

Surely if your daughter was at such a high level of risk, why would you have her in the school play? i believe that parents should be able to take pictures of school plays - it was fine when i was a child.

If you read what i wrote properly the school are providing a full face mask for my daughter as part of her costume so her identity will be concealed to protect her

Sorry should i stop her from doing anything that is normal just incase???

Maybe i should apologise also for trying to give my normal upbringing whilst trying to protect her from her psychopathic father :rolleyes:

Just what I wanted!! Thanks. I will quote that at them.

I have to sign at the beginning of each term some photography/film consent form so surely should come under that.

Wrong, That consent form is for the school to take photographs NOT little jimmy's uncles twice removed.

Paparika I have read your posts and what you have typed is so very very true.
The person who quoted something about writing for the daily mail is totally out of order.
Unless you have been in this situation, worked with kids that have been in this situtaion you cannot comment.
You cannot believe the background to some of these cases.

    not all !!!!!philes are men!!

Photos are ok in our school but we are all asked to limit their display to other parents and our own relatives unless we get the parents permission.(Most parents do tend to zoom in on their own child anyway.)I do get annoyed at videos been made but most parents are sensitive and stand at the side rather than midrow!
Every day above ground is a good one ;)

you'd be surprised, really you would

Actually I wouldn't! And I know the reason for banning photography was they had children in care and didn't want the families finding them.

It was not about !!!!!philes at all in this case, and I don't think it is in many others either!

ok I'm going to tell you a story, it's real, and it happens every single day.

I believe it probably is real but there isn't a !!!!!phile at every bus stop, or in every supermarket - it's not uncommon but it isn't an everyday occurance either.

Most encounters of this kind will be innocent.

oh he says, I'm going that way after the shopping want a lift, no she says still unsure, he produces some sweets for the children and asks is it ok for them to have them, yes she says, the children are happy. he continues to have friendly chatter and asks again, look i am going your way, it's raining, be quicker to get you and the kids home, she says ok yes thanks.

Personally, I'd tell him to go forth! But then I'd do the same if it were a woman I'd only met in the bus queue!

This isn't made up. Scare you, so it should. that man spent a few years being the perfect boyfriend, went to the school plays, took pictures, passed those pictures on to his 'friends'.

He could have taken all the pictures he wanted - he had her trust. He had no need to rely on photos taken at the school play.

He could have got ones in swimming costumes, or less, and in pretty much any scenario he wanted.

Plus, photoshop is their friend and they can take a head shot out of a local paper and add whatever body they want. And they do this!

You can criticise the way the woman allowed him into her life, but in all honesty....she was lonely, he was paying her attention, made it clear he wanted to see her, they became boyfriend / girlfriend, she didn't know what his motives were until after he left.

No reason to prevent a whole school from having photos of their play though...

And trying to convince us our children are at risk from other parents and their partners while taking part in the school play doesn't work with me.

The only children at increased risk are those within the family and possibly any that visit the house a lot.

of course, we all think we would be able to spot one, because they are all dirty old men aren't they? they will befriend first, he could be that cute guy at that party last week, that mate of your brother, that lone dad who's child has recently started at your child's school... thats the whole point in grooming, he will do what ever it takes, even having sex with the woman and letting her think they have a fantastic relationship that looks perfect, in fact she will tell you it is perfect.

I know how they work and I know they are very difficult to spot, and I take precautions with my children, but I do not feel they are at risk from parents taking their photo within school.

As I said, the reasoning behind the bans is often nothing to do with !!!!!philes.

Sadly, it happens, but there isn't one waiting on every corner, whatever you'd have us believe!

Thats what I meant - although there wont be any filming/pics allowed of the play I will still be able to get a pic of him in his nativity costume so I think thats fair enough - after all you only want one of your own child xxx

is paed0phillia a new thing then? or do you mean that people should give up offering help to people because they'll be branded paed0philes before you can say 'neurotic parents'?

I think most people will undertand what I mean........;)
