  • Thanks to all those who answered the question which i asked.

For me its not about any other car, if I don't get a 500 it will be an I10, not a panda or ka or anything else. being female the 500 is very appealing and my heart says buy it. My head says hyundai.

are you able to use the scrappage scheme? if so, i would buy the 500 and sell it privately straightaway, make a bit of profit, and buy something a bit older for less money

Sorry for the thread hijack but I've been looking at doing something similar.... is it a viable option?

with lead times of 12wks+ for some models, dealers offering no incentives on the car, its book price or nothing, and the lack of used ones coming through the system, then yes it is a viable option, as long as you choose the right spec

I haven't looked into the real nitty gritty of this but a Fiat 500 1.2 pop is £6700 after scrappage... dunno about specs as I'm only playing with the idea at the moment.

tbh, i wouldnt bother doing this with the basic model - you want to aim more for the mid-range versions, with some additional styling options

ask your local dealer what the most popular version/options are - from just driving around, i would say white seems to be popular, with a black stripe down the side - you see very few in other colours, or with the number, butterfly & flower decals

I'll have a more detailed look & visit this weekend & see what's what! Thanks :)

In a year's time as you're driving down the road in your i10 - will you look wistfully at the 500 as you pass one, and wonder?

    And vice versa???

When you come to sell it the 500 will hold it's value much better...it's a cult car.

I had a really old 500 ...man I'd love it back it was such a lot of fun. Shame they modernised them really.

Used ones are starting to come through Fiat Dealers now. A quick check on Fiat website showed them selling 26 from one location- everything from pre-reg 5milers to higher used mileages.

It is a risky game of course as people can be dubious about 2 owners in a short period (granted not £2K dubious) but if it works out, you'll do alright.
