Sorry to hear you're having a tough time. Have you a library local - they often have nursery rhyme sessions (rhyme time) and storytelling. Also the local churches (I'm not religious myself) have some very good groups. I use a sure start group and find they also do courses from time to time where the little ones go to the creche and the mums have some grown up time.

Before I had DD, I worked in 6 different jobs. They were all part time - few hours here, few hours there. All pocket money type wages/returns but it all adds up. Would you be able to do evening work - there are always vacancies for care workers.

Out of interest - where abouts in the south are you?

    Chin up :D

Our favourite group is in a church, but it is a bus ride away, too far to walk.

    I'm in Middlesex.

Shame, south coast here. How about trying the library and your health visitor - both should have info on local groups, things going on, playgroups etc.
And you may be able to leave some brochures in the library!

I hope that any newbies thinking of joining avon arent put off by all our recent rants but at least they can consider the fact it does require SOME effort before signing up lol

thank you, my HV wasn't much cop, so I did my own research on netmums. I did used to take DS to the library story time, but he was only crawling at the time and used to get bored and crawl away.....lol. Actually we used to go to a really good one in town on a Friday morning but you had to get there early as it filled up really quickly. Might have to try that one again.

i too am a newbie, on 2nd campaign. dont seem to have much success with my houses and having to leave notes to get people to leave their books out! Got 2 orders from them so far and am offering a free gift with every order over £20 and so far that works.

In one of my roads is a block of flats, they are letter boxes on the outside of the building. what should i do about these?

    i am in somerset....anyone else?

You could leave a book in the letterbox but then you could only get them back by knocking on their door. Might be better to try and gain entry to the flats and knock on the doors to see who wants books.

Has anyone else had any problems with the SSS Dry Oil Spray? I ordered 35 of this in camp 5 only to find that 32 of them are rock solid (The liquid has solidified). I also had this problem with the one i rdered last camp too? Does this happen a lot? Its a nuisence cos im gonna have to re-deliver all of these when the replacements arrive. Id tried really hard to sell these last camp - If this happens a lot i think i might consentrate my efforts on something else.

I have a 4, 3 and 1 year old so have done (well, still doing) the whole playgroup thing. It can be worth perservering for a few sessions at any particular one. It's not necessarily that anyone is being cliquey. Sometimes by the time you have done a bit of painting or whatever with your little one, supervised snack time to make sure that they aren't snatching someone else's drink, and caught up with your regular friends there isn't any time to say hi to any newbies. If you have more than 1 child then it becomes a major challenge just to say hi to your friends. It only takes connecting with 1 person, who in turn introduces you to someone else and pretty soon you have your own little clique.

Another source of meeting up is NCT coffee mornings - usually smaller than playgroups so easier to get chatting. If you look on their website you will be able to find your local branch. Some branches have loads going on, others very little.

I have the link cached in my googlechrome and it has stopped working. every time I click on it, it says is this the page you are looking for, shows same link? Think they have changed something on their site.

And sorry don't know answer to your question, why not ring or email SL line and ask?

Thanks for the suggestion but I did email SL team and just got a reverberated pat answer that she'd been rejected. Don't want to antagonise them so will just leave it.

Reverting to your earlier posting re. Betterware, you don't 'carry' stock as such, orders are delivered to you for you to deliver out the next day (or whenever you like really provided you collect the cash/cheques before you put your order in (and get your next delivery) a week later. Does tend to be bulkier than Avon though so, yes, it does clutter up the place until you can get it back out the door.

Good luck with EB's suggestions - whatever they are.
