Avon Hints and Tips (Part 3)

awww ladies, thanks for your support.
Have spent the afternoon crying since I got home, so thoroughly fed up. And that woman in the blooming Avon ad who says she doesn't need childcare as she fits avon around her kids, can she tell me how? I have no family and all my friends work so no one can look after DS during day while I do sign ups if I can't pay for childminder. And if Rep doesn't have a car, not fair to make them come to my house and lug books back to theirs.
Anyway, DS is staring at me, think he wants his bath and bed, so better go.
Thank you ladies for your support. Short of taxcredits sorting their lives out, and my DH's boss actually paying him the money he owes, I don't know what's next. I even do mystery shopping but the new client I am signed up with says strictly no kids on the mystery shops!0 -
My situation has just gone from manageable to downright at the bottom of the pit, surely things must get better from here...
I just am not making any money to pay bills, etc, and tax credits has been adjusted according to DH's income, which would be fine if he was actually getting paid but he isn't! Even he has said to me if you are not making any money it is time to give it up. Although I am one who believes in trying something for longer than 5 minutes to say you gave it a go before giving up, financially I can't afford to keep doing this.
........
I already do what I can. Until ******* tax credits decided to cut my money even more
.....
But then is more time when I can't be canvassing or book dropping. Can't do it in the evening, as by time dinner is served, DS in bed, too late to be out and about.
.......
I can't even afford to do an avon party at a local club, not allowed to do it in my house.
Pardon me if I'm far off the mark here but sounds like you are trying to resolve your family's situation single-handed?
1. If your DH is not being paid for some reason then HE needs to sort that out (and not by telling you to pack in your part-time job)
2. There are two adults in your family - if it's too late/not safe for you to go out then maybe the other adult could do it instead? (OK tongue in cheek there but hopefully you get my drift)
3. 'Not allowed' to do a party in your house???? Empathise where you're coming from (I was once married to someone, who would not allow me to invite guests even into our 'home') but..... again your DH needs to be giving you some support and not dictating to you.
Makes me wonder if your DH is not making things harder, rather than easier, for you?
As I said, sorry if I'm way off the mark but was once in a marriage that was definitely 'not in my best interests'. Sometimes we ladies become problem-solvers and our OHs get used to our taking the strain without doing anything to help. I hope I'm wrong in your case because it's not a nice place to be.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Thanks MC, but my life is soooooooooooo complicated. DH is trying to get money he is due but not that easy, as he is self employed too. We are in a no win situation at the moment.
Was just telling my friend if I get a job part time or full time, childminder may not take DS unless I can pay her up front and I can't do that unless DH gets paid everything he is owed. So I can't give up avon, as even though I am not making any money at mo, it is my only source of income, aside from tax credits - which is as good as £0 and child benefit, which I use solely for DS' benefit, ie nappies, wipes, formulas, days out, etc.
There are very complicated reasons why I cannot hold a party in our house, and I couldn't even start to explain them.
But like someone said earlier in the thread, better to get someone else to hold it, then try to be the organiser and host, and avon lady, and every hat going!
And DH is now on medication which has the side effect of making him want to go sleep as soon as he steps through the door!!
Hoping a good night's sleep and I will feel better tomorrow and a bit more spurred on.0 -
Aureol, sleep on it.... you are such a help to us all on here. Maybe just keep repping? Have a rest for a campaign? Where do you live, maybe someone can help.. not sure how!0

However I just wanted to say that much of that is down to reading this thread and being able to pick up so many Hints and Tips. Aureol212 - I have found your responses to all the questions so many people have asked have been great and so very helpful. Yes, agree with Dingdong, Aureol, you've been really great helping us Newbies when all the time you had all that pressure on you too.
Really sorry.
Thanks for all your help and good luck finding light at the end of the tunnel.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Of about 16 people invited 5 turned up and i dragged another from my street an hour beforehand making 6.
In my experience of attending/hosting parties for other products, eg Mini IQ, chocoholics, this is pretty typical. You usually get 1 or 2 who say right from the start that they won't be able to make it. However most people say they would be up for it but then in the last 24 hours all the excuses start coming in.C5 £202; C6£541 :j; C7 £502; C8 £379; C9 £379

Thanks for your replies. I just sent her a grown up message pointing out that since my facebook group was there before hers then the customers she's talking about would have joined mine before hers so I couldn't see how I was stealing her customers! I have a horrible feeling that this may turn into some army V navy thing as her DH is in the navy so I imagine she'll be targetting the navy wives some of who are already customers of mine however I reckon they'll move to her simply because she's navy and I'm army (yes, navy wives round here can be that fickle!!) but to be honest I'm not too bothered as I've always intended that me doing avon in this area would be my sort of test to see what works and what doesn't then hopefully when we get posted in the summer I'll know what I'm doing and be able to rake in the orders lol!Proud wife to a soldier and mummy to two gorgeous boysDealing with our Debt Barclaycard £2022.98 RBS £1249.86 Next £183.03September Groceries £120/£102.05:( September Packed Lunches 22/6Sealed Pot Challenge #9940

I have a quick question. I have so far got £150+ in customer orders and still have 120 houses and a few friends and family to canvass before the order date of 12th march. Obviously I won't get round all the houses
) My question is do I just keep picking up and dropping books and collecting orders until 11th March and then put one main order online? And there seems to be a problem with registering on the website (my asm is looking into it) so what will I do if it isn't resolved by 11th March? Could it be because my credit rating is poor?
Thanks in advance for any replies

Sometimes it plays up when you try and register usually leaving it 24 hours and trying again works. If you've had an account number then you will have been accepted so don't worry. I'd ask you asm to know what your credit limit is, it can be anything from £200 up to £500. That's the amount you owe Avon though; so if you had a limit of £200 you can get approx £260 of orders with no problem. Yes keep trying to get round as much of your terriotry as you can, but not too close to your deadline in case people don't leave the books out and ring you with an order as sometimes happens.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
