Yeah your initial credit limit can be anything up to £500 - it goes from various factors, married/single, rent/mortgage, if you have credit cards etc, how long you have lived at your address & had your bank account, the kind of area you live in, and a landline helps as well for some reason.....though as to how they actually decide upon the credit limit, I have no idea, I just know the more things you can say yes to the better! After your first order you shouldn't have any problems with your subsequent orders, as once you have paid for your first order, avon will increase your credit limit each time as they know you are less likely to do a runner with their stuff without paying for it!

MC, have you heard back from flissys yet? Just the "new people" list on there hasn't changed in a while, but you should have heard back by now doesn't usually take too long.

Thanks everyone for replies about sweets. To be honest I wasn't worried about small children as it is mostly retirees and working professionals around my area. I don't have any children my self or dogs. I know about chocolate and dogs. Anyway, I'll consider it.

Here is another question. I'm retyping my intro letter after reading this thread and your helpful suggestions. I wanted to add an incentive to place orders and get family and friends to place orders so I've written this...

Introducing a friend or family member to AVON brings rewards for you. If you take an order on their behalf and place it with me you will receive a free gift (one gift per each new friend or family member). If they place an order of £10 or more they will also receive a free gift on their first order.

What do you think?

**How many camps when becoming a SL is your upline supposed to help you for? ie books, sign ups.

***What happens if you sign someone up or get a lead and there is NO TERRITORY?eg yesterday i signed up a girl. Before hand i looked on sma and requested the small about that was there and then emailed the manager of that area. She didnt get back to me till after the rep had gone but i had already covered myself with the small amount i had
...BUT what would happen if you were out prospecting in an area or someone saw my flyer and wanted to do avon as their main source of income and there was no territory?


****Lastly(more of a small rant than question)...when i contacted the area manager (of the area i was signing up in) I asked if there was any more free roads etc near by, she replied saying she had just released some territory near but i would have to be quick, when i looked there was no territory so i emailed her again and asked for the street names so i could find where she meant...

She asked if i could send the sign ups full details so she could request it for her, I sent her name, 1st line and postcode... then she emailed again saying 'I need her title ,as you know, before i can reserve any'
HOW WOULD I KNOW THAT? I ve been a SL for all of a month? She didnt need these details last time i requested more for another rep of mine!

Send it back for full credit and re-order another one when the price is right.

Only my personal opinion but certainly initially I'd keep any incentives simple i.e. just 'get a free gift for introducing a new customer when they place their first order with me' or something of that order. You can obviously gauge the best value for that 'free gift' depending on what orders are placed (if any) rather than putting in conditions.
