Signing in as an Avon newbie! I have just signed up for doing Avon in my area (Mainly because my rep is pregnant and will be leaving work soon, so wont get any books for a while!). Just wondered, can you make a loss with Avon? And is there anything I should be awrae of? Not sure if I am going to put brochures through doors, we havent had any here where I live (New build development).
Have read the tips on the first page, but cant scroll back through all the pages!!
Any advice will be greatly recieved!

Can you make a loss? Yes.
When someone bounced a cheque on me for £80  And I never got the goods or the money back. Avon couldn't have cared less and I gave up shortly after as I could never take the risk again.
They were a regular customer who often spent over £50 and never bounced a cheque before, so it was a real shock.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -

Hi everyone, just thought I would say hi and thanks for this thread. I just recently joined up as rep in BR2. I'm not sure if there is anyone working in the area or nearby as my sales leader allowed me several roads, seems like nearly everything directly around me is free so maybe there is nobody close by.
Just dropped my first load of books, I had 30 and I barely did one close. I was surprised. It seemed like a lot of brochures when I packaged them up but I had dropped them all in about 15 minutes. I'm also offering free samples at work. Trying a more soft-sell approach as I work in a very professional office and they will frown on too much selling or distractions during the day.
Unfortunately my husband's office is a no go because someone is rep in his team. Which is how I got the idea in the first place
I just wanted to ask if anyone ever has any problems getting their brochures back? Since it didn't take long or very far for me to drop my whole stock I've made a rota to canvass other roads I've been allocated but obviously it hangs on whether or not I'll get most of my brochures back when I go to pick them up on Thursday. Since this is my first campaign those are the only brochures I have.
I tried to put in reminders, for instance I wrote an introductory letter and in it reminded customers to please leave the brochure out even if they weren't ordering. I also put a sticker on the plastic bag to remind them as well. More importantly because it's been very rainy and I want to make sure if they do leave them out they are in the plastic bag. When I went dropping yesterday I saw a couple of other types of cats left out a couple were in bags but one was just on the doorstep as is and it was pouring. I doubt it survived.0 -

I dropped 30 brochures on my first camapign and got 1 back!!
I couldnt believe only 1 person used my bag and left it outside, I dropped notes in the doors saying again please leave them out and nothing!
I dont do door drops anymore as I cant afford to keep spending money on the brochures every month.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. That's why I'm an 'asker' rather than a 'stuffer'. With limited books it seems logical to me to make sure they're at least left at a house where there is a modicum of interest. (Later on you can always use out-of-date books to 'stuff' and try to raise new interest. So far that's only ever resulted in one new customer for me though so not sure how effective it is.)Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Unfortunately you are bound to loose a few brochures when canvassing an area for the first time, luckily I've never lost too many maybe 2 out of 20. It depends on your area really and whether people are used to leaving brochures outside for collection, like from betterware or kleeneze. If they aren't out when you go to collect, knock on the door and politely say you've come to collect the brochure and ask if they'd like one in the future. If there's noone in then pop a note through asking them to leave outside the next day, usually reminds people as they just genuinely forget. You'll be surprised by how well the bags will protect the books, I've collected them when buried under slushy sow and they were fine as the bags were sealed. Territory needs recanvassing regularly, you can use the prEvious campaigns brochures to avoid buying too many, over a year after starting I'm still getting new customers. I recanvass maybe 20 houses each time so that people aren't irratated and deliver brochures to people who I know want a brochure every campaign.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
