I'd love to join too please. I'm saving £2 coins and 50 pences (in seperate tins) and occasionally i'll chuck a note in too... In October 2011, we're touring the West coast of America, so any monies raised is going towards my food fund :)

Found out how to update my sig...feeling at home already!

Will the knife trick still work with lots of folded up notes
    ?

Can you not put them elsewhere dooleysdollymix? Yes, you can put them in - but getting them out again without a risk of needing to break it might be a little tricky. However, if you're prepared to risk it.... Personally, I never do, but if you're determined then use a pair of tweezers when getting them out.

It's good that you feel at home, we like everyone to do so from the start. We're like a huge family here :) - though thank goodness I don't have to buy Christmas presents for 1022 people!!!

A really warm welcome to the thread Blakesmummy and imso! It's good to have you here with us. biggrin.gif Have fun saving in 2011 or as soon as you're ready! You'll find your numbers at the bottom of the list on post 3 of page 1. Please read through posts 1 & 2 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. Please pop your number on your sig, it helps so very much

NB You'll both see I've put your Targets in with red, but that's only to remind me to NOT take them off with the other targets for this year. You'll see be in the black girls! :D

Blakesmummy, even though they say you can smash the pots - PLEASE DON'T as it's only a ploy to get you to buy another from them each year. Do they think we Sealed Potters are bonkers????
When you want to empty it, sit at a table with a thin bladed knife...tilt the jar up til the money comes to the top and gently slide the knife in and (almost, but not quite) out gently and it'll soon start to pour out. Have a drink with you and have the arm muscles worked out a bit - you'll know you've done it after, but by golly it's worth it and you'll love it!! ;)

I don't watch it Applecider, Gillian thingamebob put me off with her searching through poo samples in "You are what you eat"!!!!!:eek:

Incidentally all, I received a £50 cheque from YouGov today for surveys completed!!!! No need to ask where that's going! That's my 2nd and I'm thrilled to bits!!! DH & I went for a 3 mile walk this afternoon - freezing - but we wrapped up and DH found a penny - in the middle of a country lane???!! :kisses2:My hero!

Stay safe, healthy and warm today everyone.
OK folks...another day closer and there are just just 5 days left!
Sue x Anyone else wishing to join - it's NEVER too late. So, just say the word and you're in for next year too! :xmassmile

    Morning Everyone
Nice to see the "Family" is growing, welcome to the newbies, enjoy the banter, we've got some [STRIKE]loonies, mad things, eccentric[/STRIKE] old friends who are AWOL and missed at the mo', but when they're back we have a lot of fun with. Looking forward to smashing last year's total. Sue is the boss, I'm the official couter upperrer and I have a spreadsheet with all your name's on to prove it :p

Got another £2 coin & 50p coin last night (so £16 in to the Summer 2011 fund for yesterday!), also found 1p road change in Mr T's.

Got to say, I don't watch any soaps or reality TV shows, I wouldn't give any of the "celebrities" the time of day, never mind air time

Wrap up warm, stay safe and keep saving

  • Morning everyone,

I am hoping that my sealed tins arrive this morning as I already have a few coins to go in :)

Do you keep a record of what you put in, or do you just whack it all in and then its a big surprise when you open it?

  • Hi Sue and all,

Haven't been here lately, but the odd bits have still been going in the pot. I have no idea how much is in there, as have not been keeping account. Now that I'm paying for my husband's nursing home fees I'm having to be extra careful with my cash, and am working on the "drawing out cash and filling labelled envelopes" method - which, after allowing for bills, food, and all the other living expenses, gives me (I estimate) £7 a day. So I don't always have spare cash to jingle. Once I've done a few months and actually had the bills in and paid them, I may be able to let up and allow myself a bit bigger daily allowance.

Anyway, is it too early to do the big cashing up? I may be busy next week, so it would suit me to count up today. And in any case I bought 2 pairs of (very necessary) bargain shoes yesterday, so have no cash left (NSDs until Wed) so no more for the pot, barring any road change.
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

    Good morning
Some people keep a tally, others just wait for the surprise at the end, so it's entirely up to you hun :D
