The time of 8am - 1p.m slot for a BT engineer to turn up today to install a new socket in my house was a WASTEFUL day. My son had been in all day to have this done before travelling back to Oxford. I had been calling him literally on the hour to ensure that the Engineer had access. As at 1p.m. there was no sign of any engineer, i called the free number and to my amazement, the Engineer had been and gone at 10 leaving us a card of no-one at home (well, there is no card left in the post) then the Engineer called my mobile number which was right by desk in the office, also no missed call or voicemail message, so which house did the Engineer turn up. BT have now given me another date of 5 October having waited since 13th September for this job to be done, with another time slot of 8a.m - 1p.m. (cant even give me a fixed time) which will mean having to take time off work, or getting my son back from Oxford. Surely BT can come back next Monday to do their job as i have no evidence of an Engineer turning up. Can you look into this for me as am so upset and mad - BT - be practical!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Are you sure thats correct ?

    Don't forget about:
If you are billed quarterly and you don't make your minimum 30 calls a quarter, you will need to pay £20.40 (Incl. VAT) for every quarter you don't make these calls. If you are billed monthly and you don't make your minimum 10 calls a month, you will need to pay £6.80 (Incl. VAT) for every month you don't make these calls. This charge will appear in the One-off charges section.
    £6.80 x 18 = £122.40.
  • BT Company Representative, my MiL is living in a new build which is "set-up" for BT lines to be connected but has never been connected. She has been quoted 3 different amounts for connection - £60, £80 & £120 (estimated as cannot recal exact figures). She had been offered different deals when she has called to make enquiries and each time she has spoken to someone there was no record of her previous offer.

Could you advise of the cheapest amount she would need to pay - free if possible. I have noticed a few posts where the connection charge is waived if you take an 18 month contract but couldnt find any information advertised on the BT website.

    Thanks.

Hi subsoniccoyote, If you sign up for a 18 month contract then the connection would be free on this offer.

If you could PM me your details or send me in an email to forum.moderation.team@bt.com, i will place an order for you.

    Thanks Gail

  • For BT Rep. My son has moved into a flat with a 1year lease. There is a BT phone socket but no live connection. Is there a charge for a connection for use for 1 year?

    Thanks

If the flat has had telephone service from BT in the recent past, and the wiring and socket is undamaged and the line still has dialling tone, it's likely he won't need to pay a connection charge. But where there's no suitable BT line available in the property, or there's no dialling tone on the line, there will normally be a standard connection charge to pay of £122.50 .
  • Don't forget about:

    £6.80 x 18 = £122.40.

Is that not for customers who keep the line but dont make the minimum number of calls.

Perhaps a BT rep could address Ypaymore,s comment instead of ignoring it.
