What am I going to do with all the empty boxes from the appliances and electrical things we've bought over the years? Do people always keep the boxes in case you need to send something away for repair or do you all just chuck them out and worry about packaging at the time?

    I have a lot.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Do you feel much happier about letting the stored things go if the person receiving it says to you "oh .. I've wanted one of those for years!"?

I find hubby can willingly part with one of his treasured items so long as he can say that it has gone to a good home. Is some of what compels hoarders (and I have my own little stash of goodies, if I'm being honest) an over-developed desire not to waste anything?

I have these along with all the play mobil and lego boxes, all flatend with great intentions of getting all the pieces for each set together and puting them in the correct boxes!:rotfl:

    Maybe some day!

:hello: hello, you're in my world! I have this debate with DH regularly, it is necessary to keep them, we might just need them ..... honestly....... I sank to new depths today, when I debated if it was really possible to keep DS3's first pair of glasses (he's 2) that he's just grown out of! The optician told me Africa are desparate, I told him I'd pop them back next time, DH sighed in despair. I really think if you've hoarding genes then there's nothing you can do about it!!

Yes definitely. If I could have 2 dozen people standing under my loft hatch today who would want my stuff, I think my loft would be empty in no time. I'm not tight in any way, I'm happy to part with things if others can make use of them.

Thats it....get out of my loft!

As do I with lego. Son had loads of lego models which have all amalgamated into one big heap of bricks. :o

Lol.........get thee back to that opticians now! :rotfl:

Just think about another little boy the same age as your son who can't see properly but you're standing in front of him with glasses that will help him but you wont give him them.

Your son is saying 'Mummy that's a shame, why can't that little boy have my old ones, they don't fit me anymore, why wont you help him?'

You say ' I want to keep them so they can collect dust in the cupboard for years'.

Your son starts to cry because he feels so sorry for the little boy.

How do you feel now? :rotfl:

See....I can throw other people's stuff away.:D

Oh, - I have agonised with you all the way through this thread aliasojo! I'm the worlds most dreadful hoarder, and what makes it worse is i dont even have a loft to store the junk in :o:o:o

All my "loft stuff" is in the garage, no room in there for a skateboard, never mind a car, :rotfl:but then all the junk that there is no room in the garage for is in the spare cupboards in the house, so the stuff that should be in the cupboards......well.........

I do tell myself off more or less every day, and i keep emptying the cupboards out, but when it comes to getting rid, omg, i cant do it. I do have the neatest cupboardfuls of junk in the world though..........:o:D

Hope you have better luck than me!

    gp xx

Edited to add, that was such a touching little tale in your last post, how true.... hmm, maybe i should have another junk sorting day while i think of your story.......lol puts it all into perspective doesnt it....

OH has just brought out a big box with my childhood stuff in it. I have a small (battered now) silver cup I won in a 'Best Hamster in Show' competition.

It's pretty wrecked looking and is of no use to anyone but............

I have a tiny wooden box with a pair of screw on earrings my Gran gave me (they're little Mexican men :o).

I've got loads of 'bits' that aren't any use but what do I do with them?

I need shouted at again. :o

gp.....I'm glad we don't have a garage, I'd be truely dangerous with one of those. :rotfl:
