New Boards... should we change stars?

OK this is the real big issue.

People know what the star count is currently and how many starts you need to get to each level.

I'm considering upping the qualifications - as the sites been here longer - the idea of 5000 posts being a lot is dissappearing, so shall we make it harder to get stars?

to us who don't post nearly as much, the stars seem way off.

I don't really care about stars but I think the newbies need quick rewards.

How about making it easy to get the first few then a sharp curve - needing lots of posts to get up to 4 or 5

I'm like 20 or so post's away from getting 5 star's, this scenario has a De Ja Vue feel about it!!  :-/

Many many years ago when I started to drive I set myself a goal to get MAX NCB ASAP. It seemed as if everytime I got close they moved the goal post's & I had to wait that little while longer. Then came the dreaded bangs & knocks almost at the 4/5 period. 14 Years later I have finally achieved my goal.....  :o

Sorry got a little side tracked there, yeah you have to do what you feel is right. When I first arrived here you only needed 35 post's to make it into the TOP 100 posters I would imagine that's around the 200 ..oO(Just checked & it's 695) post mark now though. So upping the anti on stars would seem a reasonable step to take.

After playing with the new site .... I was gutted when I lost a star But then, I realised when you get to five .... that's it :-/ no stars to aim for ;D

I agree with previous post ...... the 4 and 5 star should be harder to get ;D

User has 5 stars at say 10,000 posts, when they get to 12,000 posts, one of their 5 stars goes sparkly ;D and so on until 5 stars go sprakly .... then thats it ..... no more star glory ::)

Am I one of the few that don't like stars or post counts? :-[

Can't see the need for the status thing, apart from if someone's new to the site, as I am.

Don't even know how many posts or stars I've got (will do when I post this though ) and don't care. The board's good to read as well as post on ;D

But as someone else said somewhere, it's quality not quantity that counts.

I agree that the first three should be easy to get, the fourth harder and the fifth.... THE GOAL!!!! ;D


It's nice to have a few stars, just to say that you've been around for a bit. After all, other forums use them.

For me as a newbie on another forum I know that if someone has 4 or 5 stars then they're probably going to take me seriously if I have a problem :-/

I'm a bit confused ...................although 5000 is a lot in fact on 5 out of 30936 members have that many posts at present :-/

I think it should be left as it is

Will we all start from scratch when we move over or take our counts /stars with us?
